ace0927
"Monday will be a regular workday." -- Bloomberg Tell him to stick to infringing on people's rights and large sodas...leave weather related items to people with a brain
Chaser25973
So now someone says Sandy will be WORSE than Irene in the same press conference - contradicting Bloomberg!!!!
Hailstorm
It's so weird and comical to see Craig Allen showing 5 different maps for pointing out all the non-tropical watches and warnings in effect. This is very cumbersome.
NaoPos
I honestly believe that the fact that there are no tropical advisories is playing an integral part of his decision.
NYCSuburbs
Bloomberg said it's making landfall in the Delaware or Maryland regions - I have no idea where he's getting his sources but the model guidance is trending north into central NJ. Regarding the storm surge and evacuation parts... I don't know how to respond. This is a bad decision, and I REALLY hope he takes on a more serious tone tomorrow. Big Papa
Even the CEO of ConEd said that he doesn't expect this to be as bad as irene.......I haven't seen such incompetence in a very long time......

SquatchinNY
I honestly believe that the fact that there are no tropical advisories is playing an integral part of his decision. Agreed. dbc
I'm just... I'm lost for words. I can't... This man is going to get people killed. It's really sad and pathetic and there's nothing anyone can do about it either. He is the only one with the power to make these calls and the people his comments impact will now just shrug this off as no big deal.
DrOldSchool
I'm new to the area but I'm glad I'm not the only one banging my head listening to Bloomberg. 20 oz. Soda = death. This storm = just a little rain. I was pissed at most of the comments listed, but when he said to just stay in the city and not go upstate where "it was worse last time" I was in shock. A Lot of people are misinterpreting that NHC cone... If you connect the dots, it does go where he thinks its going. That is a very misleading map... How many people do you think understand that the storm isnt going where the circles are? Its way too nuanced for the public, and, apparently, for the Bloomberg staff. KEITH L.I
Bloomberg hyped Irene so much..he doesn't want to cry wolf again..big mistake..oh well..he's treating this like a tropical storm..it's not..winds could be the strongest 150 north of the center

Mark McIntyre
I'm just... I'm lost for words. I can't... This man is going to get people killed. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I mean.....seriously. WTF!?! This is going to cause people in the NYC area to take Sandy less seriously. I saw long lines and shouting matches at my nearest gas station and my nearest supermarket was a madhouse. Did not see this during Irene, FWIW. Absolute Humidity
Some of the New England thread seems to think its coming north based off NOGAPS and a ten mile shift north on 18z GFS.
Stormlover74
Thankfully all 3 governors already called states of emergency so people will hopefully heed the warning. But I know those that live in the 5 boros more than likely listen to Bloomberg over the governor I wouldnt blame him directly.. Im pretty sure hes got a panel of advisers pulling the strings. I think hes getting really rotten advice!
SnowDemon
The onus will be on him come Wednesday. That will be for sure. This legitimately angers me. But to be honest, I think there has been enough media coverage elsewhere that people have begun to realize how serious this storm may be.
Superstorm93
This sounds like it's going to be one of those disaster "learning experiences" for the country. Bloomberg better step up the tone. SnowGoose69
Some of the New England thread seems to think its coming north based off NOGAPS and a ten mile shift north on 18z GFS. Well the 12 and 18Z NOGAPS both went notably NE...the 18Z run went into Narragansett bay it appeared but I think what may be happening with the NOGAPS is its catching onto this not being a true tropical and hence its progressive bias may be starting to factor in. pazzo83
Noreaster27, by the sounds of it. Bloomberg has said multiple times already that this storm won't be as bad as Irene and they aren't expecting Tropical Storm or Hurricane conditions. Y-i-k-e-s. Mon Night zone forecast for Manhattan: Rain. Rain may be heavy at times. Strong winds with lows around 50. East winds 40 to 50 mph with gusts up to 70 mph. Chance of rain 90 percent. Is this man insane? Can Bloombag be any worse?
LakeEffectKing
Some of the New England thread seems to think its coming north based off NOGAPS and a ten mile shift north on 18z GFS. Nobody thinks that! It was posted by me, as most model outputs have been posted in the subforums, so as to be discussed....
