Could you pick a worse time to go to door county? looks cold and dry... Hopefully it torches and you can prance around in the warm waters.

I agree I don't like cold and dry, but it was warm and dry last year I believe, so at least it's not the same. A few models eke some light precip in there, so hopefully a couple of renegade flurries can make it to the ground.santa.gifunsure.png

Gross weather. couldn't even hang our opening morning deer until Tuesday afternoon because of temps not even getting below freezing and daytime temps plus 15 and 50's in NW Wisconsin going forward for days. So sick of fall weather cocking over the program. ****ing smelled like spring when we left this morning. smh.

Not even getting below freezing at night! And here I was thinking NW WI was experiencing lows in the low 20s. I noticed a few guys sitting in deer stands out towards the Wisconsin River yesterday.

One thing about this month the lows have consistently been below freezing almost every night. Cold nights have kept the departures from going positive already.

51 for today.

November has had some memorable storms over the years (Fitz, 1950, Armistice Day are a few you didn't mention) but I think it's also more prone to what many of us consider boring. Not a consistently snowy month for most areas and any tstorm/severe threats are usually a one and done type thing, unlike spring/summer where it's not uncommon to string together multiple threat days in a row in the same location.

Severe's almost never a factor over here so I guess I'm not as cognizant of the November lull as those of you further to the S & W. What typically sticks out to me about November is the increasing frequency of high wind (non-convective) events.

Without looking at any data, I'd say September is one of the mroe boring months of the year imby.

About a mile out that window is the main control tower and you would have never known that it was there with how foggy it is.

Btw Happy Birthday Chi Storm.

Great pic from DTW! It was foggy when I got home around 2am, but I was asleep during the 0.00 visib

Yes, happy birthday to Chicago Storm!

I am back in Geneva from State College, Pennsylvania, for Thanksgiving break. Quite a frosty morning today (and yesterday, as well). It got down to 22 here, which is the coldest temperature I have personally experienced yet this cold season. The cold, crisp mornings of fall that are common here in the Midwest just are not as frequent in State College because it is so often cloudy there this time of year.

Plus, State College is its own little heat island in the center of Happy Valley. I went to Penn State and you are correct...quite cloudy. Now I live in western Michigan...just as cloudy! :P

Bowme-

Talked to my brother and they saw a lot of deer (does/small bucks), but were only shooting big bucks.... My bro claims he heard more shooting Sat morning then the past few years combined. The neighbors shot 3 does on Sat and still haven't cut them up! I wouldn't let them sit long in this heat. Another family member that hunts south of here (Vernon Co) had a pig buck (16 pt) shot next to his land (he was there and saw it, but the other guy got to him first) ...This family member does a lot of bow hunting and has never seen this deer before (in person/on camera)...so it must have been pushed from out of that area. Still think the weather was too nice for hunting.

Sure every year we see some glaze, but I have not seen a really powerful ice storm here since the severe winter storm of Jan 30-Feb 1, 2002. That was 1.75" freezing rain AFTER 9.5" snow. (my area got freezing rain Apr 5, 2003, but it was more decorative, non-damaging icicles dangling from everything after temps finally fell below 32F, after we endured hours of 33F rain while much of SE MI was devastated). We were finally supposed to get a bad ice storm on Feb 20, 2011 but instead ended up with over 10 inches of snow, and believe me, I was NOT upset. I honestly cant even REMEMBER a pure ice storm. Would be cool to see, but honestly, I ALWAYS prefer snow, so Ill probably be grumpy if we actually do get one (assuming someone close by gets buried in snow).

Strangely enough I didn't lose power in the 2002 ice storm, but it sure looked pretty out. Now in 2003, I did lose power and there were transformers blowing all over. That one wasn't as pretty.

That was such a shocker with the "ice storm" last Februrary. I went to bed expecting to wake up without power and woke up to almost a foot of snow. It was amazing.

That was some intense fog last night. I went out with a flashlight before sunrise just to see what it looked like and you could hardly see anything, anywhere. Tonight is a little foggy too but nothing like that.

On a side note, looks like an extremely balmy Thanksgiving is on it's way.

I don't think Howell ever dropped below 0.8 mile visibility all weekend. I'll have to check on that later.
