daddylonglegs
Down to 24F here...wind is blowing like crzy out there. NAEFS is even more nuts on warming ahead (at least compared to norms, which are really dropping now)... http://collaboration.cmc.ec.gc.ca/cmc/ensemble/naefs/semaine2/images/2012111200_054@007_E1_north@america_I_NAEFS@TEMPERATURE_anomaly@probability@combined@week2_198.png

turtlehurricane
Decent light snowfall since 2 pm, flakes getting bigger. Dusting some surfaces and blowing down the road. The cold suddenly doesn't seem that bad with snow flying around.
michsnowfreak
What a shot right now at MI Tech! Oh how I cant WAIT for that to get here! Realistically scenes like that are probably still a month away for here (though you never know), but BRING ON WINTER!

michsnowfreak
Heck ya. I'd say anywhere between 3-5 weeks. It was 5:30pm when that MI Tech cam had the look of a mid-winter snowstorm, swirling white powder, low visib, etc. Mind you, Im not saying we wont get snow for a month, we will...but that screen-shot from 5:30 screamed "mid-winter". Which is why, as some of us discussed the other day, as pretty as wet snow is, powder all day anyday!
daddylonglegs
La Crosse talking about the mildness.. Will be interest, because gun hunting starts Sat ...don't really care to hunt when its 60F outside. FOR THOSE LOOKING TOWARDS THANKSGIVING NEXT WEEK...IT APPEARS THEDEEP EAST PACIFIC TROUGH WILL LIFT OUT ACCORDING TO THE 12.12ZECMWF/GFS AND LATEST CFS RUNS...RESULTING IN A ZONAL FLOW NEAR THEU.S./CANADIAN BORDER. IF THIS DOES INDEED PAN OUT...EVEN WARMERAIR SHOULD ADVECT INTO THE AREA. MAINLY DRY WEATHER PERSISTS TOO.OF COURSE STAY TUNED TO LATER FORECASTS GIVEN THAT THANKSGIVING ISSTILL 9-10 DAYS OUT. cyclone77
Flakes managed to stay just north of us today/tonight. Had it not snowed last night I would have been pissed lol. 29 right now. Clouds have held on longer than expected, but they're finally moving out now. NWS point has us at 17 tonight, which would be the coldest of the season. michsnowfreak
Cold and blustery out there! You know that anxious time of year, everyones on pins and needles for the first real snow, torchartie on amwx is posting every cfs map that torches, etc... I had switched some things over when my laptop needed a reboot last month, so I have been fixing some of the pic folders, and have been looking at some pics I took from 2010-11. I cannot believe how good that winter was from start to finish! Im salivating for snow now! Had a FEW flakes earlier, technically my 4th trace of the season, but Oct 29, Nov 2, and Nov 12 all were just a few flakes (Oct 30 had a more respectable snow/sleet/rain mix).
