CO SciFan
The Orionids turned out to be a pretty decent astronomical event for my wife and I this year, did anyone else see it? We saw a solid 15+ meteors with a couple of good fireballs including one persistent tail. Sadly the two fireballs were not in my viewfinder, but I did manage to catch about ten meteors in camera. I have taken nine of those and made a composite image of the shower as seen west of Fort Collins, CO in the Cherokee area in the foothills of the northern Rockies. Also of note in this image is the zodiacal light on the eastern horizon. I would love to see any other images anyone else might have to share and keep looking up! 2012's Orionid Meteor Shower Meets Zodiacal Light by Fort Photo, on Flickr
aslkahuna
This is the best time of the year to see the morning zodiacal light. I remember how very evident it was in Sierra Vista when I was observing the Leonids back a number of years ago. Steve
