I just now realize why me and my friends spotted that very same news van going up the mountain last weekend when we were half way between Boone and Wilkesboro...going to haunted trails. I would have not remembered it, but my buddies made a big deal about it...don't remember why.

Also,they stated if 940 verified,it would be the lowest hurricane pressure ever recorded for a landfall in the Northeast!

They just said on TWC ,Sandy is on shore with a pressure of 940 mb,the models did well with that!

Our problem here will be moisture just like always down sloping problem... accuweather radar has shown rain or snow over me all evening and I haven't see a drop or flake.. drying up

The reports on the NYC thread are insane. Front of an apartment building completely sheared off on Eighth Avenue, 2 feet of water in the streets in Lower Manhattan and rising, 90 mph winds at Islip...and it's not even high tide yet in New York Harbor.

Models 7-10 days out, everything in the mid-short term, this is what it actually looks like, transitioned at the last min, worst case scenario for NYC/LI, will eclipse most if not all storm related records there, minus the SN.

Drove to the blue ridge parkway but it was closed. Went up I26 instead and conditions deteriorated really fast. Got to near Wolf Ridge ski resort and took pics, threw snowballs, etc. Roads were really bad--31 degrees and falling with probably 40mph gusts. Will post pics when I get back!

Damn, NYC is a disaster area. Interesting to see that major cities don't fare much better than a few beach houses on the outer banks when mother nature comes a calling. Sandy certainly brought her A game. Numerous records will fall before this day is through.

Back to the weather, still looks like moisture plumes coming (or pressing) to the south. Just not sure if they will make it to central NC at the same time we drop the temps into the 30's.

A lot if times with NWFS events it doesn't even show up on radar though...the artic air and moisture will continue to be pushed into the mtns into tomorrow night likely IMO

Was just saying that the southwest side of the storm looks robbed of moisture. Could be it will wrap around. Tropical systems do weird things once inland. NYC just went dark!

Been snowing here all day long. The ground temp has not helped but this evening things really took off. Ground it covered and the roads are stating to slush over in the higher areas. Still snowing hard and very windy. Current temp 30/
