H2O
You're sort of on the southern "wall" as the low moves west. LLJ is screaming. It that where the heaviest radar returns are right now? Just to the SW of DC?

caviman2201
On my 4th cocktail after 2 beers. Took my second obs walk out. It's beautiful I kind of had the same sentiment earlier on my mini Jebwalk... it was windy, loud, cold, rainy... quite pleasant from a weather geek perspective... CoastalWx
It that where the heaviest radar returns are right now? Just to the SW of DC? Some of that may be bright banding given 00z sounding, but these linear bands in the radar could bring some winds down.
clskinsfan
This band has just been sitting over me for 4 hours. Man I wish this was snow.

TradeWinds
I am counting too many roof shingles on my deck for my comfort. Water not leaking...yet...so I take that as a good thing.
Don Cherry's Jacket
We had our transformer blow during an ice storm. A huge surge went though the house, fried tons of stuff. I spent two weeks as the neighborhood "computer guy" replacing power supplies for clueless neighbors. We lost a ceiling fan. Neighbors lost furnaces, fridges, tons of stuff. The explosions are fun to watch, but it sucks when yours blows.

mattie g
Wife is unhappy that we're sleeping on the sectional on the first floor tonight. She's also unconvinced of my reasoning behind it. nj2va
Was not even going to try to venture outside to walk the dog...so I put him on the leash and took him in the patio backyard (we live in a townhouse). He wanted none of it out there so he quickly pee'd then looked at me like, 'get me the f outta here.'
09-10 analogy
Once more into the breach, as the poet once said. Amazing out there. When I went up to Fort Reno during Isabel, the wind was to my back because the circulation, of course, went to the west. Much warmer then, too. This time, wind right in my face, driving rain. Got a bit chilly and waterlogged and was worth every minute. Didn't see as many transformers popping as I looked out over Montgomery County as I did during Isabel. Because the probably replaced them with American made transformers. Good to hear!
Deck Pic
went out for 20 minutes....still nasty but rain getting lighter and wind gusts less frequent and powerful....green lights in the sky...must be transformers.. River fine...no danger of breach where I am

I'd really prefer not to have a tree come through our bedroom ceiling while we're asleep. Same situation here. My wife and son want the comfort of the upstairs rooms, but when you are surrounded by trees on a night like tonight, safety comes before comfort.
