loshjott
We did see a a couple of flashes around 6:30, thought it was a transformer, but it happened again and it had to be lightning. I also saw what I thought was lightning. I'm in Silver Spring.

WinterWxLuvr
Went back out. I just have to experience this. Winds gusts over 60 I'm pretty sure. I was standing at a street corner and a gust came by and I had to brace myself, and I'm 6-2 175. Has anyone reported any lightning and thunder? I saw the sky light up and then heard a rumbling noise afterwards. It might have just been the overlap of a transformer blowing and the wind, and I haven't seen any other reports. I did see a transformer blow closer in. Not to be rude, but all it takes is one limb to end your life.

wxmeddler
Max sustained winds at the house now 25G48 mph. Rain since midnight = 5.40" (Note the 25 mph sustained wind is converted from 10 minute sustained by *1.14, so that's why its 22 on WU) http://www.wundergro...0&graphspan=day
MDScot
Drove to the Safeway to get some ice cream - maybe I'm tempting fate, but so far the wind and power outages have not been an issue so it seems fine to re-stock the freezer!

I agree. I thought I would've lost power by now. Funny thing, in Isabel, I lost power for all of 15 minutes. The derecho? 36 hours. Seems like I do better in superstorms. :-) Also, I think the wind has pretty much maxed out. I could be wrong. But I'm getting a sense that the worst is over. Perhaps it's an unsafe feeling right now, but I think the gust are becoming less frequent. Could be wrong.
KAOS
Obviously your transformers are made in china. I'm within a few miles of the chesapeake bay with overhead lines and pole mounted transformers. No Problems....
