dan11295
Some decent rainfall rates in that band just west of Dover. Seeing 0.3-4"/hr on multiple different weather stations in that area.
KAOS
DCA's radar is down as well... Kinda of strange both sites are down. I do not see a message as to why DCA is down....just says maintenance. Not very good timing. Currently, sustained winds are 13 mph from NNE with 18 mph gusts @ BWI Just walked outside and I can hear the leaf canopy blowing around. Hopefully a gradual onset of wind will remove alot of the leaves prior to the higher gusts.

We typically put 3 1gal blocks in our giant camping cooler and they're still partially frozen on day 3. Beats the heck out of bagged ice.

Bob Chill
I built my business model to allow me to work from home whenever I want. It can be a curse at times because I find myself working during odd hours (like 10pm last night for example. boo). However, if phone and internet get knocked out then it looks like I'm going to have a well needed mini-vacation this week.

I've got a project in Hawaii that need maps by Tuesday - so, if I lose power... obviously I'm screwed and so are they. So I figure I work on them today while watching football

I'm considered non essential personnel so if Fx co govt(which my work follows as far as closures) goes with an unexpected/liberal leave for tomorrow I know where I will be. Bob Chill
Anyone here have FIOS? I lost internet and cable during the derecho. But I realized that I can manually plug in the big white box with my genny after the backup battery conks out. Anyone do that before? Do I have to press any of the mystery buttons to make it work again?

And lets be honest here....even if power actually stayed on...could even a modest weather weenie concentrate on anything other than their backyard? I certainly can't. The window in my family room will become a 24 movie screen. I already warned my wife that I am in full on weathergeek mode. Probably worse than Feb 2010. Luckily she's an enthusiast herself because I can get really bad during big events.

I can't imagine you'd have to do anything different than a normal power cycle to get it up and running again.
CranberryWX
The precip even way inland over here has been moving WNW as the effects of Sandy are felt. SabreAce33
Currently just a drizzle here in SBY. That heavy band is about 15 minutes to my west. Nothing other than a breeze, and a light one at that. I expect all that to change quite a bit as the day progresses.

I can't imagine you'd have to do anything different than a normal power cycle to get it up and running again. That's what I thought too but I tried it after the battery was long since kaput. I was thinking that FIOS was out neighborhood wide but if it wasn't I was doing something wrong. Keeping 4 kids entertained when they're on house arrest for a couple days is very important to my sanity.
