Rumor is that NHC will now reverse course and issue TS/Hurr watches and warnings further north?

I think people were misinterpreting the language in the tweet. I read it as they decided that way so when it goes ET people won't get confused. Of course everyone's confused anyway.

I've been out to my son's soccer game, lunch, beer store, and gas station. Everybody is taking it seriously from what I can tell. Conversations were mostly about bad tree damage and loss of power for an extended period. I didn't hear anyone saying it won't be a substantial to serious event. This is good. Very good.

Everyone in the line to vote early (60-90 minute wait in line, btw) chose today for the same reasons:

- Had already finished their pre-storm preparations.

- Didn't want to be running around during the heavy rain.

- Wanted to vote before the voting centers lost power for ??? days...

Early voting centers are open until 8 p.m. in Md. (Tmrw 12-6p.m.)

There is pretty much no real indication from Sterling that anything is coming

it is a bit odd.. we still have 48 hours i suppose from the worst tho it should pick up a good bit before that. nhc refers to local offices lwx refers to nhc.

Maybe LWX hasn't hoisted them yet because they don't expect the criteria to be met until late Monday night?

(sorry. Wrong thread earlier)

High wind watches are up back to Erie already we're about the only place without them.

An interesting thought crossed my mind. This will most likely be the most widespread significant event in our region that has ever happened on modern history. I know other hurricanes have been more intense but they affected a much smaller portion of our area.

I personally didn't think Isabel was that big of a deal west of 95. It wasn't in mby. The derecho was more intense albeit very brief.

Now that the reality is setting in of having derecho like winds region wide for potentially 12 hours or longer it's starting to feel a bit surreal. And then having Isabel like winds for 24 additional hours....and 5"+ of rain.

This is going to be a wild one and that is an understatement.
