ThePhotoGuy
BALTIMORE, MD. (OCTOBER 29, 2012)-Due to high winds and dangerous weather conditions from Hurricane Sandy, Mayor Rawlings-Blake announced mandatory travel restrictions for city roadways. Restrictions, which begin at 6:00 p.m. today, do not apply to uniformed personnel, hospital employees or other medical providers. Travel restrictions will remain in effect until noon tomorrow, although may be extended as necessary. "Our number one priority during the storm period is public safety," Mayor Rawlings-Blake said. "We need folks to stay off the roads so that our first responders can focus 100 percent on real emergency incidents as they may occur. We are working closely with our hospitals and medical providers to ensure that their employees have safe routes to work." At the Mayor Rawlings-Blake’s direction, police officers and emergency responders are deployed throughout the city and are able to respond to any incident, and forestry and public works response crews are on stand-by. 911 and 311 are fully operational. Use 911 for emergencies only. Police officers are deployed throughout the city and able to respond to any incident.

Solo2
Secondary obs. Almost Nov, and the snowshoe area is likely to have the deepest snow depth in the lower 48. Quite interesting.
Jebman
I'm gonna have to eat my words now that it's accelerated and a bit further south. The 925mb temp gradient is playing havoc with the lapse rates bringing those 925mb 50 kt winds down. Ditto that. Winds are gusting to at least 35 mph per WeatherBug. mattie g
Some gusts we're getting are really, really ripping. I don't know if it matters that we're at about 325' or not, but some of these gusts are crushing it. My holly is putting up a brave fight. I hope she can hold out. so much for a C Jersey landfall Said it before, models will correct north.

Mrs.J
Getting very windy now up here. Something hit the back of our house but don't know what. A friend who lives in a neighborhood across the Pike from me just lost their front yard tree.

adelphi_sky
Kudos to pepco for the tree work they did after the derecho. Not a flicker after some pretty strong gusts. EDIT: And also mother nature for dropping a few leaves before the storm.
clskinsfan
Some snow down just west of Harrisonburg like I thought would happen. Gonna make my chase early tomorrow morning. Here's the traffic cams if anyone wants them. Check out the cam west of harrisonburg on Route 250 near 640 http://www.511virginia.org/ Closest snow I have found is on 55 west just at the WV border. Only 15 miles west of Winchester and only at 1500 feet.

mattie g
Kudos to pepco for the tree work they did after the derecho. Not a flicker after some pretty strong gusts. Guaranteed it's more to do with the fact that most trees have less than half their leaves on them.
BlizzardNole
My lights are starting to dance and the real dance isn't even here yet. If this was summer, tree tops would already be gone. We are so fortunate this isn't just a few weeks earlier. My 40-foot maples are all bare and that is helping a ton.
