DC BOARD OF ELECTIONS ANNOUNCES CLOSING OF EARLY VOTING SITES

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The District of Columbia Board of Elections has suspended the operation of its early voting sites for Monday October 29, 2012 due to the forecast arrival of Hurricane Sandy. The Board will make further announcements of early voting sites’ status throughout the day on Monday as it continues to communicate with Homeland Security and other agencies.

“In order to protect voters and election workers, we believe that it is prudent to suspend early voting on Monday,” said Clifford D. Tatum, the Board’s Executive Director. “We want to remind voters that once we resume voting, they may cast ballots at any one of the eight early voting centers through Saturday November 3.”

Citizens are encouraged to visit the Board’s website, www.dcboee.org <http://www.dcboee.org/> , to monitor the status of early voting sites.

Not sure if this'll work since I'm hotlinking from a Facebook page, but this is supposed to be a shot of the James River Bridge in Suffolk/Newport News about two hours ago. The water usually sits pretty close to the bridge but that's closer than I've seen in a long time, and well before high tide.

I'm in downtown Suffolk and just tried to set up an IP cam out my window but our complex won't allow me to port forward to it from the router, so I can't have any outside access anyway. Not that it matters since our internet goes out on a seemingly daily basis.

It's been drizzling/light rain here the entire day. Was much windier last night, no real wind gusts that I've noticed during the day. Sounds like it's picking up a little outside now. Only water problems have been the typical tide flood areas.
