No accumulation here, but we did have snow/sleet/rain throughout the night. DTW will have a T of snow for Oct 29 and 30th to christen the 2012-13 season. Howling winds, temps in the 30s, driving rain, sleet, and snow...in October in Michigan and Ohio...from a TROPICAL HURRICANE. How often can you say THAT? Probably never...til 2012. I saw some snowflakes before bed, and the thrashing wind/sleet woke me up in the night...and I am a deep sleeper! Just rain right now.

It's really incredible, to think about all that Sandy has done. Devastated the east coast, millions without power, WV Mountains could get 3 feet of snow. It's windy here, but not even comparable to what a lot of people have gone through with this storm.

Let's just say I "used" to live on a tree lined street. We probably had 5 hours of hurricane force gusts. Most trees fell on the opposite side of street. A lot just had the root bulb completely pop out of ground and topple. Luckily on my street just roof and porch damage, didn't see any trees completely trough homes. I'm a block inland, but emergency crews had the next street up closed. Will have to walk over once conditions improve.

Under a wind advisory now. CNN saying power outages might extend as far west and eastern WI!

This will be an interesting camera to watch. One of the few operating cameras at sea level on LI.

Lake Erie web cam at Eastlake.

Do you have a link to the eastlake ohio webcam? Looks like there is a lot of land missing that was there yesterday? Eastlake is one of the more vulnerable areas in NE OH to shoreline erosion.

Good pic of the snow in Howell and WOW to southern Ohio! Is that a higher elevation?

As bill deedler pointed out, TECHNICALLY the snow we got wasnt from a hurricane. Trop storm remnants are whats causing most of the precip, but the strong polar jet is what fed enough cold air for a little frozen precip. And of course, in winter, during a big snowstorm, much of the moisture comes from gulf/tropical origin.
