Mercurial
About 5-10 miles north of San Francisco along the PCH there's an overlook near Muir Beach in Marin County. Was tooling around last week and just sort of stumbled across it. Took a few pics and here they are.
Vandy
Very nice! Looks a little hazy though. Is that trapped pollution?
Mercurial
Not really sure actually. My guess is just moisture in the air? Not sure.
aslkahuna
There's usually a fair amount of moisture haze in the air along the coast there-either that or fog. Onshore flow will usually send any pollution trapped below the inversion to the east and southeast well inland. Steve
stemwinder
Those are nice pictures. The air is often hazy as much from pollution (offshore wind), as perhaps from the salt particles in the air (onshore wind). Depends on wind direction. I was lucky enough to see the air very clear between rain events out there, with an onshore wind, but rarely so. Usually when that happens, the rain has washed the air clean, temporarily. More often, it's hazy like this. Likely trapped pollution this time. I don't see much spindrift near the water. Spindrift is the haze from trapped salt particles above the surf. I lived in that area for 31 years, and miss it still. Muir Beach overlook is a must-visit if you're visiting nearby Muir Woods.
