CoastalWx
What are the odds that Kevin gets suspended or 5 ppd before the first flakes fall this winter? He would be so pissed. It's worth it.

dryslot
There is a big block in NE Siberia which teleconnects to this low. This is also shown in the weeklies which at week 4 probably has one of the strongest signals I've ever seen. At week 4, it also tries to shift east. I think an H5 trough as oriented is ok for us since it does try to pump up Canadian ridging. But for me, it's sort of a risk to take and there is the chance that it takes on a rather hostile configuration in winter as the wavelengths change. As of now, it is sort of stationary and hinting at trying to redevelop southwest, but that is beyond 2 weeks out. That would be gut wrenching 3 weeks from now if it decides to hang around
TalcottWx
Yeah isn't that crazy. Beam right around 0c. Nice TDS! Same warning went over my head I think. Either that or that's another warning associated with that line

CoastalWx
The GEFS did weaken the GOA low at the end. Not so much on the EC ensembles, but it looked like the NE Siberian ridge was trying to nudge east a bit. That would agree with the weeklies. Two weeks out though, so normal caveats apply. mahk_webstah
This fall seems to have the feel of a good set up for winter. Whether the big bomb happens next week or not, we have been getting nice qpf events regularly, there are strong signs of blocking showing up, we've had a warm sept and oct (implies a turn to cold)...lots of good signs for a good winter. Reminds me of the fall of 95 when we were getting a regular pattern of coastal storms and high qpf events which was a repeating pattern through much of the winter. Looks like a good start, early winter incoming. Nice to read all these board posts again. I find I'm checking them every few hours now...tis the season. Hi everyone!. Typhoon Tip
Did you guys see how fast the Siberian side of the Arctic Sea flashed over ?! wow was that amazing. It took like 2 days for the entire semi-quadrant area to ice over. Also, some really impressive recuperation rates for land snow at this time. Mr Torchey
63 degrees and sunny picture perfect day. How is the hypercane thread? While the possibility of a phase is certainly possible......I fear many have thrown caution to the wind due to the 20 months of warm and boring weather outside the hallowblizzie last year. Absolutely fun to look at the possibilities though, that trough in the east needs to sharpen up.
