baroclinic_instability
Thread for what will likely be quite a few images from this winter and fall. Starting off...a quick trip down to Seward Alaska along the Kenai Peninsula.

famartin
Good stuff, the drive to Seward was one of the highlights when I was there in July 2010, such pretty mountains between Anchorage and Seward. A lot nicer than much of the ride north until you get fairly close to Denali NP (then again that ride was in the rain )

I enjoyed the drive down quite a bit/ The Kenai Range is a lot more scenic than the Chugach near Anchorage. More carved out and tighter valleys give it a much more impressive look. Seward was really neat, and I can't wait to take more time to check out Exit Glacier, etc.
baroclinic_instability
Evenings like this make up for all the rain and clouds we have had this fall. Turnagain Arm inlet just south of Anchorage. The Chugach are such a scenic range with snow covering them....much prettier than in summer, IMO since they lack the beautiful coniferous forests that cover much of the intermountain W and Pacific Coastal Ranges in the lower 48.
