Any of you ohio guys wanna go to mass? Leaving tonight. Split it 4 ways. Shouldn't be more than 250 per person. Heading to watch this storm. I want to see with my own eyes a sample of what 1978 was like and this is my chance.

Are you talking about our 1978 blizzard or their 1978 snowfall? The big thing about ours was not really the snow-central Ohio did not get that much. It was how it was raining and so warm the night before, and then by morning it was about zero, with winds gusting to 75mph, and all of that water/snowmelt had frozen in the flooded streets(sewers and drains blocked with snow). It was the extreme cold and the high winds really with the blowing snow. I remember it well.

Think 'Ike'- with 6 inches of snow on the ground(in the air), everything icy, and it being 2 degrees.

If you are talking about their 78 storm, then disregard this. :)

Awesome stuff Dilly! Where did you end up staying? Did you get into that 3-5" per hour band that setup from southern NH into central CT for several hours?

The pic above had to be close to 3" an hour. Stayed in Auburn, Massachusetts. This was where models showed the heaviest bands. We drove through the areas in Conn that got the 40" so may make a pit stop on the way back totomorrow to get some photos. It's been a good time.

DT saying the storm thurs..fri..is an Ohio valley storm..says no way it will cut..well looks like everyone else says different!!

He conceded to a loss today lol

Looks like we could catch an ice event Thursday night.  Looks to turn to rain after sunrise, but a couple tenths of an inch of ice will be possible.

Interesting to note yesterday evening I had bare ground here on the north side of Newark, driving south to Heath it went from nothing to 1" or so of solid snow on the ground. Never seen that kind of thing around here before.

It must've been on intense snow shower!

yeah I heard that there were some extreme gradients of snow accumulation the other day.  I saw a report in upper arlington of 0.7" when over at OSU (just a mile or two east) we had literally nothing.

I have all but given up on winter...can we get just one big storm to go under us?? I mean really..storms to our sw ne se..getting old..

Today's models say maybe yes!  I'm loving the 12z CMC :D

0z Euro shows a solid 4 inches for Columbus and the GFS is a touch to south but has 6+ inches very close by.

Above for this storm. I am sorry for asking, but what temp is enough to support snow?

The 2nd column over needs to be below 0 and the first column over should really be below 0 for accumulation.  The order goes:

2m Temp, 850mb, SLP, humidity, humidity, QPF, 500mb height, 1000-500 thickness.  That last column also needs to be at or below 540.
