jbcmh81
I am liking the buildup of returns coming in from the northwest. That might be good for another inch later this afternoon/evening.
HighTechEE
I doubt it's been since 2008. In February 2010, almost everyone in the state, at one time or another had 12" or more on the ground. Cincinnati had a 15" depth at one point, and that's south of you. I stand corrected! I went back and checked we had 10" on Feb 6th that year! dilly84
I'm in the perfect spot. The fetches off lake MI look to keep heading here if they don't dry up.
vespasian70
For tomorrow ILN is still going with 1"-2" and isolated 3" spots, hinting that areas further north may see the higher amounts.

vespasian70
Think you mean further south. Lol. No, earlier they were saying more north ... although now they have downgraded the whole event - it's only 1" among the northern counties and not much else further south. vespasian70
The radar doesn't look that bad. If I didn't know any better I would think we would be in for a solid 1"-3". Who knows, it might surprise us in the end.

Who knows, it might surprise us in the end. Was just going to say that. For an event that has trended drier and further south, the returns to the west look pretty good... much better than I thought they would given the forecast. I definitely feel we'll hit at least an inch or two provided it doesn't fall apart from here.

jbcmh81
everytime I comment on the radar I jinx it. so i'm just gonna keep my mouth shut I'll jinx it for us. I'm going out on a limb and saying that I-70 and areas south are good for 2-3". Though it will probably take time to get started, as it's pretty dry. jbcmh81
Okay, atmosphere is saturated and it's snowing now. Now it's just about watching returns and hoping it doesn't all fall apart. Visibilities 1/2 to 3/4 mile throughout the area.

vespasian70
Light to moderate snow in Heath/Newark. I can verify that. Considering this is New Years Eve I'm surprised that ILN hasn't pulled the trigger and issued a WWA.
jbcmh81
Yeah, I don't understand ILN's AFD. They basically still insist no one even gets an inch and then tonight's precip will be light mix at best. Yet it's been snowing here mod to heavy for a couple hours and most of the area already has an inch. Returns keep building back to the west and streaming into Franklin County, so I could definitely see it overperforming here, despite ILN's claim that it's a non-event. JayPSU
Um, ILN has already busted as we have more than inch, still snowing and roads are terrible here in Westerville.
Chinook
I am in Toledo again. I started seeing snow a half hour to an hour ago. It must have taken some 1-3 hours for the light radar echoes to turn into real snow.
vespasian70
An inch has fallen here in Newark, still snowing lightly. With sunset upon us, the roads are quite slick.

Trent
There's a statement issued this morning that said this was the 2nd snowiest December at Columbus. They showed December 2000 only having about 12". I find that very hard to believe. Didn't they have around 30" that month? Where does ILN get their data? buckeye
It was actually the 4th snowiest. December 2000 had 13.4". But I believe we had no single snowfall greater than 2" that month.... In fact the majority of that 13.4 came in dusting and less than an inch snows. It was like finding out you won 50 grand in the lottery but the payoff is like $20 a week for the next 50 years lol
