We will do better than that!

Patience grasshopper.

Granted we've lost an hour of snow. If it doesn't switch to snow when the heavy returns get here we are in trouble. Right now all I'm getting is very light sleet with snow mixing in and the radar doesn't look good. Sleet line is definitely further nw than models had shown.

NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...ILN

-- Changed Discussion --

BAND OF HEAVIEST PCPN IS PUSHING NORTH ACROSS NORTHERN PORTIONS OF FA ATTM. A NARROW WEDGE OF WARMER AIR ALOFT IS HELPING TO PUSH MIXED PCPN A LITTLE FARTHER NORTH WITH A MIXTURE OF SLEET...FREEZING RAN AND SNOW ALL THE WAY UP INTO THE COLUMBUS AREA. SINCE THIS IS COINCIDING WITH SOME OF THE HEAVIER PCPN RATES...THIS WILL LIKELY CUT DOWN ON SNOW FALL AMOUNTS SIGNIFICANTLY ALONG THE I-71 CORRIDOR. HAVE GONE AHEAD AND MADE SOME DOWNWARD ADJUSTMENTS TO SNOW AMOUNTS ALONG THIS LINE AND WILL LIKELY NEED TO REVISIT THEM AGAIN SHORTLY. PCPN IS GENERALLY REMAINING ALL SNOW TO THE NORTHWEST OF THIS LINE AND THIS IS WHERE HEAVIEST BAND OF SNOW SHOULD SET UP HEADING INTO LATE MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON. GUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH WILL ALSO LEAD TO AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW ACROSS OUR NORTHWESTERN AREAS THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON. WITH MORE SLEET MIXING IN...THE SOUTHERN FRINGE OF THE WARNINGS WILL LIKELY BE MARGINAL...BUT GIVEN THE COMBINATION OF MIXED PCPN AND GUSTY WINDS...WILL LEAVE HEADLINES AS IS FOR NOW.

Not anymore. Back to just sleet. Time to cut totals in half...at least.

It's getting close to that point, I agree. I can't believe we switched over here being north and starting out as snow. It's heavy sleet here now. We are in trouble. The heavier returns are coming in and can switch it over. Gotta love the Wtod. Gets us every time.

Seems like everyone forgot their panic pills this morning (I'd post here more often if the discussion was more civil and less whining). My take on the sleet reports: all in all, boundary layer temps are better than I expected. Were on the nose of the warm tongue and have avoided the switch to ZR (a very good thing in my opinion). That said, I think this storm is really primed to start ripping across west central Ohio, with the best area of deformation being north and west of 71. Upper level temps should start crashing along with some stretching deformation, things are looking really good to my eyes this morning, particularly to those west of the 614.

Well I am on the north east side, and was not supposed to be close to the sleet. The waa has a way of destroying every Ohio storm and with the heaviest returns in coming through now, and they aren't turning the sleet to snow, I'm starting to agree that snow totals may need to be cut in half. The waa coming up is never good for us in central Ohio

We went over to all ZR/IP for awhile. A few snowflakes mixing back in again as heavier returns approach from the south. Dustin is right. No one should be counting themselves out yet as 850 temps are progged to crash by late morning with everyone seeing snow and there will be plenty of time to catch up.

Well, if this is the worst the WTOD is going to inflict on us, it isn't that bad I suppose.

Thanks for your input and not putting us down in doing so :-)

Sourtheast burbs of Dayton (Bellbrook) have had bouts of heavy snow...then it slacks for a few minutes with some sleet mixed in...but for the last half hour mostly moderate snow. Still no amped wind. Excited to see what the next few hour bring. Hopefully the rain/freezing rain just to the south stays....or begins pushing southeast as the 850's drop.
