Rocktober like the old days. Bridging to winter

Really hope the Euro is wrong about the weekend. The GFS clears the fropa through much earlier. HGTV will be in Keene Saturday night filming for the pumpkin festival for a special that will air on Halloween called "Pumpkin Wars". I think they will be up against some town in Illinois. If it ends up an SOS event the night will be a mess.

lol...I think think that town is Morton. The reason I know that is because my wife is from Peoria and we went one year. My understanding is that nearly 100% of pumpkin pie fillings come from there and they also have a large pumpkin chunkin' contest that draws people from all over the country.

I hope things work out and the weather is clear and Keene can show off it's best side!

  • Tuesday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 37. West wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Wednesday Mostly sunny, with a high near 64. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the morning.
  • Wednesday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 49.
  • Thursday Mostly sunny, with a high near 68.
  • Thursday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 49.
  • Friday A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 67. Chance of precipitation is 40%

I hope it at least gets chilly next weekend (27th) for my weekend in the Whites. I hate hiking in anomalously warm Fall wx. I like it crisp.

Well early next week could turn warm again for a day or two, but I wouldn't say extended torch pattern. Just sort of overall mild until perhaps late next week or more likely towards Halloween.

Too many here seem worried about October temps. As long as the nation isn't torching and we're seeing some positive developments for the winter then who cares if October finishes a bit warm. I've never seen so much obsession with d11-15 models in early Oct from the weenies before.

Agree. It's one correlation. If everything else looks bad, ok, then maybe get concerned, but right now there's no need to panic about a normal or slightly mild Oct.

There seems to be some correlation, but I think as long as the pattern doesn't start to feature a big AK vortex...then that is a good thing. Short wavelengths and fluky things will happen in October to sway it a few tenths either way. I'm looking at the broader picture.
