weatherMA
Wow look at the tree difference in WeatherMA's photos vs the Coventry one. Coventry has no leaves on any trees on Oct 30 while lower Worcester looks like it still had a great deal of foliage. Honestly...when I saw Coventrys I immediately went to look at mine. The difference is incredible just with a little elevation. Not only that, but the year to year difference as well. This year the foliage outside my window right now probably looks about what it looks like in those pictures...maybe a little less color outside my window...but still, that means we are 2 to as much as 3 weeks ahead for foliage compared to last year. (and I know the quality of the pictures is terrible)
ORH_wxman
Probably a very local thing in Coventry....here in ORH at 950 feet we still has decent leaves on the trees...though many were bare too You can see it in the pics

I absolutely love big caking snowstorms like that one. Don't get those often here in upslope fluff country. And yeah I figured Coventry was isolated like that cause heck I remember even Pete had leaves on his trees. Same with Hubb Dave The pic from Coventry really looks like December though...not even any leaves on the lawn or around the trees lol.

ORH_wxman
99% if areas around here are not like that. Some of the early changing maples have dropped all leaves but most trees still have at least some leaves Coventry is the new West Chesterfield. CoastalWx
It would appear mini GCs exist in CT. People need to understand different species exist in different areas. It does not mean the climate is colder.
Damage In Tolland
Look at my pics from the Oct storm. Plenty of leaves still on trees. He lives in a newer neighborhood where the soil is bad and it's mostly maples which drop early. Many trees still were partially leaved
CoastalWx
I can find a bog in Carver where the swamp maples are bare. Does that mean it's colder?
ORH_wxman
Scott wakes up at 4am with cold sweat running down his forehead with images of Jim Cantore in 1996 and the October storm...and the 3 letters "ORH" in his mind. Then he thinks about December 1992 and starts to sway toward the sharp veggie cutting knife in the kitchen and looks at his wrists and says "is this worth it?"....then we tell him to think of Jan 12, 2011 and he backs off the ledge.
