thunderman
Wanted to share this as some here may find this useful. I haven't seen any freeware software to do this sort of thing, so I wrote one. Instructions are included in the readme file, but all you have to do is extract the contents of this zip file to a place of your choosing and run "metar.exe". What does it do? Well it's one of those things that is ridiculously simple but incredibly useful too. Provide an ICAO station when prompted and you will be presented with the current raw METAR for that station. Perfect for just checking a station or two randomly without launching a browser. http://joeywx.com/downloads/metar_v1.zip For the nerds of the group, this was written in vbscript, ruby, and autoit. At the time, it is windows only. May do a unix/linux/mac version in the future if there is enough interest.
