Friday Morning Warm Front Storm Potential

LGA reported .37" for that overnight stuff. Most out of any local station. They JUST missed out on the very heavy band around 8:00am today where NYC got .88" in 1 hour. At home in Astoria, I caught that band and easily also had .75" during that hour.

True but the heaviest rain was JUST to the south and east of them, like from central Queens and northeast from there.

That storm is on the southern periphery of 350-400 m2/s2 0-1km helicity..but it's heading north of the warm front and surface based CAPE at this point. You can now see the disconnect between the good low level shear and the surface based instability that some of us were talking about yesterday. The issue now is that even south of the warm front, the deep layer wind fields are meager with 0-6km winds in the 20-30kt range.
