Where's this "cold air" coming from? Arctic is engulfed in hellish warmth.

You tell me smart azz. But it's there on both models. I believe it's called "cross polar flow".

And by the way, the "warm up" is definitely going to happen, but if you looked at models enough you'd realize the Euro actually backed off from the 3 or 4 day torch it was advertising. It used to have 12 degree 850s up to Canada yesterday. The weather is the weather. Enjoy what you have while you have it. I have a feeling this winter is going to feature enough for me and enough for you too.

I see on both models a nice 3 or 4 day stretch of 60s, and I might touch 70 if I get lucky up here. Fine with me. Beautiful weather.

Yup, that's the sort of thing you hope for this time of year, especially considering that the next few days will be dreary from this cutoff low. Big cold outbreak on the GFS around Halloween which is a good indication that the ridge will be temporary.

Neither model is as warm as the "torch" we are experiencing as of today up here. I got 71 on my $5000 weather station at work.

And Trollppical, as modeled, your "torch" will in fact include a boundary hanging around our area for quite a while, so enjoy your 60s and rain.

Euro not as cold but still has nice cold coming after the warmup.

I just get the feeling this is what the midwest is going to see all winter, wild swings, etc. Something to satisfy everyone. NOT based on scientific research in case anyone wanted to know.

Nice and chilly up north.. I'll take the warmth off the Canadians hands in October/Nov every year... Lets get the north primed to send down some record -20's below from Mid Dec through mid Jan. We're due for a serious arctic outbreak and extended period of below normal. Give me a little snow pack and then send down a total opposite of March 2012 that's -15+ below for the highs for a month.. I don't even care one bit if its totally dry and the winter sucks after. Just to see the same ones miserable for a month (media/friends/facebook/etc) who couldn't stop throwing their joy for last winters warmth in my face would give me as much pleasure as the 2007/08 winter.

Thanks but i really don't care for any of your opinions.

It might be best for you to probably read more and post less, because your posts are very over the top weenieing or trolling. It just not how things are done in this region, maybe in others sure. You taking shots at well established posters here isn't going to do you any favors.

OBSERVATION:

Has anyone else noticed how the squirrels have just been """nuts""" the past few weeks? Tonite on the bike ride, they were everywhere..I tried running some over but they were just too fast. They are very fat this year too...very furry. I have no idea what this all means (overpopulation?), but maybe they know that a snowy, cold winter is on its way

I've noticed them being very active here too. Chipmunks also. Not sure if they feel a harsh winter is coming or not. One thing I am noticing some of the migratory birds that are usually still around have left the area already. I think that might be due to the colder month. ... Sounds like the La Crosse squirrels have got plenty to eat!

-Squirrels are way to fast to catch up with on a bike!
