Hope the weather holds for Saturday. Brother is getting married. Unfortunately I have to give a speech as the best man... Ugh. Have no idea what I'm going to do lol

Have a picture of him as a kid, a picture now with his new bride, and a projected picture of him older. Put suns and 77 on all of them. Done deal.

The foliage has to be nearing peak up here. It seems to be the usual oaks lagging behind, but there's areas of full vibrant color. I93 north of CON is looking great too. There's a few large maples in town with abundant leaf drop as well.

My local area (NE CT) seems to be ahead of schedule and we're probably about 60-70% depending on how you look at it. It's peak with some leaf drop in some areas and other areas are just getting going with the exception of the pesky late changing oaks.

I posted some pics in the autumn thread from this weekend in case anyone is interested. Colors are more vibrant this year here than last year - lots of bright reds and oranges.

Amazing the difference between there and here where it's mostly oak, beech and pine. The couple maples in my yard have some color at the branch tips but everything else is still 80-90% green.

Color "peak" is really kind of relative to species. Peak tends to come with 'between x and y dates', but some Maples are completed when the Oak is just beginning, etc, and some of these won't fall neatly into and x-y date range.

What I am noticing around the area is that some trees are brilliantly lit up with vibrant oranges and reds; what I am not sure is whether this is really earlier than normal, or if these examples are just lit up brighter than they have been in recent autumns, perhaps lending to the former assumption. Although, last year I distinctly remember having a phone call with another Met where/when we noted October 20th as being the closest to an actual peak that could be identified amid an autumn that ranked near the bottom in awfulness for displays overall. At a minimum, this year appears to be an entirely different ball game display-wise.

I am curious if there has ever been a veracious study that correlated display with winter cold and or snow anomalies. Granted, such would have to come along with a degree of subjectivity - but it would be interesting nonetheless.

What I am also noticing is large embankments of forestry where the color doesn't seem so much to be changing from green to red/orange/yellow pigmentation, but more like a green-yellow-light brown abandonment. Interesting..

First day of work for me on the opposite side of the Hudson River in Nyack.

Beautiful day. From what I've seen here, leaf colors don't seem to have changed much. Mostly green. Saratoga over the weekend is another story. Lots of color up there. Back in Brooklyn, CT (still my home address) color is o.k., but nothing really great.

Hopefully you are not doing that commute every day

Home at the lunch hour and its just sunsational out there! Man what a beautiful day to be alive, nothing but cobalt blue skies and temps around 70!

Upton still going with midweek low temps in the mid to upper 60s and humid, thought we may had been past that:( AC!

Man sounds like we are 10-15 days ahead of schedule at home. We're in the Berks now near Lee and its def peak. There was very limited color in KBUF

Probably too late but stay on I-90 and get off iin Sturbrige and take I-84 to 190 in Union. Lots of nice color into Stafford and you can take the back way to Tolland through Stafford.

You'll find that the river has a large impact and has its own microclimate.

It's close here, but I'd give it another week or so. There's still some green hanging on. Next weekend should be more vibrant.

Cloudy, cool, upslope/wrap-around cloud day with temps stuck in the mid to upper 50s. Looks nice and sunny down on the coastal plain. This is one of those days where the difference between the hills of SNE and the coastal plain is very drastic.

Come in on Monday, and leave on Friday.

Coming over the bridge I was surpised to see the high ridge overlooking the river. I never noticed how high up most of the county looks from the river surface, especially the houses up there. The elevation change seems rather drastic.
