End of September/Early October banter/disco.

CoastalWx

Wow, impressive! Can you do a blog entry about this event?

Yeah I'll try to put something together tomorrow. Would be a great case for a little meso hand analysis. A few different features of note today plus a meso low, a sneaky warm front, and a convergence zone from LGA to MMK that was stationary for hours

September coastal lows are notorious for producing mesoscale SOS rains.

Yup. 4.62" is certainly impressive but I'm not terribly surprised. This was a problematic SOS event in that it occurred over one of the most densely populated 10 mile stretches in CT enhancing the urban flooding

In general, I usually look for a mesoscale area near the low center where SOS criteria may be reached. This is normally for coastal lows in the warm season, but applies in Septwmber too. Even in October, the SOS is raised like last year over BOS and the north shore. Some of te heaviest rains ever were experienced.

67/64 - warm muggy almost summer-like night.

Still only 0.02 for the day.

Looks like even this last chance of a little rain is breaking up and passing to the north and northwest.

Could have used the rain... only 2.05 for the whole month of September.

Well yesterday finally did it at the local ASOS... high/low was 51/34 for a -10F and now for the month of September we are -0.4F at MVL. Montpelier (MPV) is -0.9F now, too.

Congratulations--about time, eh?

We ranged from 44-49 here yesterday. So far today, we've topped at 49.0 and have been essentially there since midnight. Fall is in the air.

2006-2007's winter was in February...only (March was ok, too)

You guys had a December Feb and March. Dec and Jan were beyond horrific and basically the entire winter sucked further east.

As far as the next two weeks go...looks like we will get some cold punched moving east. I do think at times we may get an inside runner or two trying to move up, but the overall pattern looks like it could be on the cool side..especially after next week...heading towards mid month.

Yeah but dude you were a few cow farts from getting that storm track in Feb-Apr further off-shore...that whole pattern 100 miles east would rock SNE. Likewise, I get rainstorms if it's equally west.

Well I was just posting the December image to show how fast it changed, then mentioned the winter since Dave talked about it.
