snowman21
Tomorrow while Palm trees reach for the skies in BDR, Pete and MPM may struggle for 50...for a high. Will those palm trees contain coconuts? If so bring 'em on!
Mr Torchey
No it does have something to do with it. The pattern gets old...nobody talks about something that continues and continues because they are used to it and bored. We all understand it's been warm, why should we yell to the heavens about another +5 departure today? People like change in the weather, and this recent flip to cooler weather deserves its respect... especially since some of us thought it would be warmer than it has been. Tomorrow while Palm trees reach for the skies in BDR, Pete and MPM may struggle for 50...for a high. There has never been a record even close to this one, not even close we are talking about hundreds of days, oh and by the way throw in the warmest year ever in recorded history. When it gets cold and snows I will talk about that, when the leaves change I talk about that, and as long as this record keeps going you can bet your azz I will talk about that. ORH_wxman
facts are boring lets talk about fantasy cold and snow the gfs shows at 384!! You need to get a grip Joe...beating a dead horse also gets really old too. You mentioned in the summer that if we had record cold that everyone would talk about it non-stop. We had it in 2009 and you couldn't even remember that people didn't go crazy despite being on the board. Now you can change the comparison to "apples to oranges" if you want to talk about BDR's 18 month streak...that is fine, but once again, I highly doubt that if we had that as a cold streak, people would mention it every single day (most days multiple times) like you do with this one. People like talking about change in the weather...that's why most of us are interested in it. So when people discuss the change in pattern from a torch back to normal weather, most will find that more interesting than another +2 month. I'm not sure why you think its strange for people to react in a less than exilirating tone when every post is about the same record and its in huge letters in your sig as well for everyone to see. Mr Torchey
Perhaps Weather X will join the fray, come in all hammered again and threaten to kill me.........several times over, but yet he is still a member, and those death threat posts andoutrageous accusations live on for all to see, in the thread and on his home page, I wonder if its because im a warm monger and people hate me. I have a feeling that if somebody made numerous death threat posts to will or scott or kevin, that person would be gone in an instant. Or perhaps its because I am not some ***** and did not report it, either way LOL.

powderfreak
Even a place like BTV is running an 18 month above normal streak I believe. There is no escape from the torch! Yeah that's one of the climate spots that just cannot get cold at night...I bet if you ran the numbers the mins at BTV vs 30 years ago is startling. They never go calm. All the interior sites like MPV, 1V4, and MVL have had below normal months and in fact this summer was normal to below at MPV and 1V4...MVL was close but I think it was a positive there. But BTV is definitely the torch king of VT.

ORH_wxman
Honest question, why were death threat posts allowed to stay in a thread, why no action taken, just curious? First off, take this to PM...this is not a matter to be discussed in weatherside threads. Secondly, I was not on when this happened. But it appears looking at the incident that action was taken on the poster in question in the form of a suspension. That's the last I will discuss this in here. CoastalWx
NAM probably has the right idea of surface temps tomorrow. Where it rains in combo of E-NE winds, it will be darn chilly. This is probably areas from western MA into ORH area and SW NH. I bet spots struggle for 50..maybe 2K U40s?

CapturedNature
it's a 5-yr trailing average. Avg the 2006-2010 lowest of the lows and you get 39.6 using your data. That was my methodology. OK, so now I'm confused because your original supposition was "In 1965, BDL averaged a September low of 31.8, and since then it has steadily climbed to 39.6". It just said that it was the average low in 1965. That being said, using your methodology, if I average 1965-1969 (5 years), I see a 36.8° average which is a little different than 31.8°. BTW, If I average 1961-1965 I do see that average is 32.6°. The 1956-1960 average was 35° so there does seem to be some spread even in a 10 year period. In this setup, I think the combo of rain and cooler air advected in from the east and northeast will make high interior spots chilly.

Yeah the METs always say how QPF is the least accurate of all model guidance...also in the warm season it seems even worse due to convective elements.
