Vandy
Stunning, immense shots! I love it. Crazy to think, but I'm guessing that the peak to the left on Denali on the same ridge would be the highest in the CONUS, and it looks tiny next to its huge neighbor. nzucker
Amazing...the Alaskan fall is really pretty too. Not as much variation in hue as New England but a lot of consistent deep yellows.

Mt Foraker is the peak, and it is over 17,000 feet, so you are right, that alone is over 2500 feet taller than the highest peak, Mt. Whitney, in California. famartin
Gorgeous... and way better views than I got! :jealous: Kinda neat how the snow level dives down from right to left in one of those photos... And get us more pictures of the fall foliage! Somehow that just seems "spooky" in Alaska, like hell is about to arrive or something

Geos
Spectacular photos! Each could be a postcard imo! Most mountains in the lower 48 are small compared to the ones in Alaska!

baroclinic_instability
Beautiful cap cloud in those first pics. It was awesome watching them develop. I just stood there in awe for a solid hour. It is amazing how quickly they can form and change shape.
baroclinic_instability
Two words: not fair. I don't see many tornadoes myself This was essentially my successful chase day. Blue sky has been rare this fall in AK.

When the sun peeks out, however, the golden Aspen are nothing short of spectacular. Here is one looking towards the Talkeetna Range across the Susitna Valley...and another in Eagle River looking towards the back of the Chugach Range.
