powderfreak
BDR sustained at 30 gusting to 45, not bad for us flatlanders. Impressive... wind gusts are cool but the sustained wind is where its at and 30 sustained is a pretty good breeze. How are the waves coming into the south coast? Bet there's some good sized stuff for the Sound.

How are the waves coming into the south coast? Bet there's some good sized stuff for the Sound. I was down there earlier took some pics it was 2-4 occasional 5 footer which is good for the sound on a sw wind, we get the big waves with a due east wind here. Just had a thunderous gust that shook the house my wife looked at me and laughed, impressive since she could care less about weather unless it cancels school giving her the day off. It must be fun as hell down there right now, if these gusts coming off the marsh are any indication.

icebreaker5221
Definite couplet developing along that LEWP near Hudson. Probably too broad a circulation to warrant a tor warning, but something to watch very closely next few frames.

powderfreak
Catskills need some sandbags from the Sultan. Check out the training of those echos... SOS stuff. Flash Flood Warnings now for the Catskills with up to 4" of rainfall already and another 1-3" possible. Check out some of these rainfall totals in the eastern Catskills... SE upslope flow plus training heavy showers equals several spots near 6" of rainfall now. Those mountains do really, really well on a moist southerly or southeasterly jet. West Point, NY
Don't waste your time on this line. Just went through a strong portion of it under warning and the winds actually calmed down to light after an afternoon of 45+ gusts here at about 1K. No thunder whatsoever, just a downpour. CT Rain
That line looks good on radar but I haven't seen any exciting METARs as it has passed.
Mr Torchey
Winds have backed off substantially the last ten minutes, not sure if the LLJ has passed east of here or not, hopefully they pick up just ahead of the squall line.

That's what happened here last week and I'd expect the same based on what you are saying... strong synoptic winds all day long that go dead calm under torrential rainfall in the pencil thin line of heavy echos. Brian5671
Nice enjoy, I went down late morning, and it was awesome! Take some pics. just got back with the wife and boys-went to the fishing pier...sandblasted walking out...tide was out which was too bad, but I'd say 35-40 mph winds maybe more drove home and winds had almost stopped...odd. Line looks like it's weakening per NYC thread...no shock there....that's almos what we always get here...
