There's a way to adjust for that... take the funnel off and adjust the screws under the buckets (lefty loosey). That'll make it tip more.

If you have the Davis software, you can also "calibrate" the gauge by setting an offset. I did that, and now my 4" plastic and Vantage Vue are pretty much spot on.

I saw that... but if you think about it, that means that it will probably count some tips twice. I thought that was weird so I tried the manual. Seems to be working.

Big time LOLZ!!!!!!!!!

By the way, for mike or someone else, had a tree branch fall on an occupied car at Prendie/ Bonner high school in Drexel hill roughly @5:50pm. We(fd) were called out but were recalled when pd advised subject was out of car and refused medical treatment. Didn't sound too serious.

Parent's Davis gusted to 35 mph as the squall line went through... which is pretty good considering the trees, houses and the fact they're in a stream valley. (its highest I've seen it gust).

yea thats not bad, so maybe a 45-50 mph gust in reality. Might bring down some small pine cones and small squirrels out of the tree.

Correct sub-forum for Poconos?

Drove all over the world today, but ended up intercepting the line as it approached the NJ border at 191 south of Stroudsburg. Friend abs I estimate winds gusted to 50+. He thinks 60. We were relatively high up in elevation, the peak of 191 just north of Bangor. Anyway, tree on wires there blocked the road. Observed some flooding near Mount Pocono and a couple of nasty accidents on 80, weather-related.

thoughts on the tornado watch ?

hmmm

Justified despite the lack of tornadoes. There was enough shear aloft that if we did get a bit of sun in the early afternoon we probably would have had ef0, ef1 development in a few spots. There was a good bit of rotation within some of those cells on the line and in the one cell that fired ahead of the squall in Chesco. We were lucky that nothing dropped.

If you look at the watch probs when issued you'll see they were very reasonable...50% on a tornado in the watch box, 80% on having 10 wind events, 90% on 6. The wind wasn't *as* big an issue with the squall line, thankfully...but there were some pretty decent gusts with the line that knocked out a lot of power in the western philly burbs (40-50 mph was common, there was about 50k or so without power at one point late yesterday afternoon).

http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/watch/ww0643_prob.html

I had no problems with the watch. Wouldn't have taken much for the watch to verify.
