gravitylover
^^ No. I don't think I can handle another Halloween bomb. I'm still dealing with hangers that come down in a good wind and still breaking out the chainsaw to cut up the big stuff that does come down. The 12z GFS does indicate 78mph at 850mb. during a period of heavy rain, 50mph gusts at surface at this time would be likely around NYC if fantasy run held up. No snow I think until wake of storm on Nov 4.
Snow_Miser
Even though it is in the fantasy long range of the 18z GFS, it is nice to see reinforcing shots of cold air associated with multiple troughs.

Chaser25973
I don't think I've ever seen the EURO obliterate the NE and SNE like that before. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like the solution the 10/22/12 12z EURO painted for us today. I... I dunno. I'm kinda lost for words on this one. TWCCraig
Where are all these mid 70s to near 80 temps I was told to expect this week? I never told you to expect them . It was actually just a thought. Didn't see the high to north of here several days before on the models preventing southerly flow.

pineywoodsli
Well I hope Sandy stays far away, it's almost the end of October that Tropical Stuff needs to stay down south and out to sea where it belongs. But we all know the headache Stalled Front Syndrome is. Anyway this is gonna screw up whatever plans I had for getting some fall foliage pictures next week since the storm will probably blow all the leaves down. We had clear weather earlier this week as well as last week and that was great timing for getting the Swamp Maples and Sassafras in along New Jersey's rivers in the Pine Barrens, but as far as places like Westchester (Rockefeller State Park) which are now peaking with crappy weather now, I will probably wind up missing out yet again (last year sucked because of Irene). Long Island hasn't peaked yet, many of the oaks seem to be shedding leaves without changing, same for some of the Maples which are just turning brown and falling off. Its been too warm which is screwing things up. Well at least I got to see plenty of color in the Pines. Hopefully LI wont peak till next week and Sandy stays where it belongs. NEG NAO
Joe is just being Joe...I'm surprised no one mentioned a landfall on Sandy Hook... if you look at his graphics in this post - the track looks very close to Sandy Hook - we are actually navigating in unchartered territory here since a storm with a progged pressure that low has never made landfall coming in from the ocean in many many years in this area - I am sure it has happened before though especially in unrecorded history........ http://twitter.com/B...5471616/photo/
