TWCCraig
Your blood must be extremely thick... We don't usually turn the heat on until the end of October. Despite how cold it has been outside, our house still holds on around 70 degrees.
MJO812
Although I would love to see snow this winter (and use that snowblower I bought in Feb 2011 and haven't used yet), my wallet is hoping for an easy heating season (or huge drop in oil prices) this year. Have yet to turn the heat on.. 58 degrees in the house yesterday am... Same here. I have an electric heater on right now.

SnoSki14
Typhoon Recurve Theory in Full Effect Again. Prapiroon is forecast to recurve away from Japan, which does teleconnect with a trough the gfs has in the long range.

Snow_Miser
http://blogs.scienti...action_ref_map=[] That's awesome. Just hope that it isn't cloudy for when the comet does make it's closest approach.
Sundog
That's awesome. Just hope that it isn't cloudy for when the comet does make it's closest approach. Somehow I doubt that it'll be cloudy for a couple months straight.

Sundog
Should have written for the best viewing days around Christmas 2013. I thought the best days were around Thanksgiving? Either way this is a long duration show. The only thing we have to worry about is disintegration. Otherwise we are good to go for a sick display. earthlight
The only way an event like that could bust would be if it gets trapped near the sun. The details with these types of things can often remain unknown until a few months prior. For a track so close to the sun, especially. But if it plays out as anticipated, this is going to be absolutely awesome.

Snow_Miser
Pretty awesome forecasted synoptic outlook on the 18z GEFS. From hours 84-228 there are negative height departures in the region. Looks like two robust troughs to swing through. http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~fxg1/ENSHGTAVGNH_18z/ensloopmref.html

SnowGoose69
Not sure if it means anything(hope it does) more fallen leaves so early in the season than in previous years. After having alot of later than normal seasons the last 10-12 years, we've now had 2 relatively early ones in 2010 and now this year. I think given the weather forecast of the mild days and cool nights for most of the next week we might be at peak color on LI and the NYC area as early as 10/22 which is probably the earliest date I can ever recall, 1995 and 2001 were probably pretty close to that.
