one of the more impressive firehose events I have seen

That, by far was last August a week before Irene. 10+ inches of rain around here mostly in a few hours. The damage from that was about as bad as what Irene brought a week later. This rain is impressive but that event put this to shame. That was probably the heaviest rain rate I've ever seen.

The rain was absolutely torrential. Happened to be caught in a huge downpour on the BQE and then it started up again as soon as I got on the Belt and lasted all the way through Brooklyn and Queens. Lots of flooding on the BQE and the Belt Pkwy was almost completely flooded, and at times 2 of 3 lanes were completely impassable.

The event is still ongoing for Nassau and then Suffolk County.

Can we please stop the bust in my backyard posts? Jeez.

The tornado warning in Long Beach is exactly why I posted this.

Let the event finish. Just because your backyard got shafted, it doesn't mean event is over.
