Logan11
Yes he recorded 35 at 2M. or wherever his thermometer is. Maybe that night that ORE got down to 38F? Maybe it was that night...but it would have been a marginal frost probably with temps a bit above freezing.
CoastalWx
That mountain lion killed by a car in CT apparently traveled from South Dakota.
HoarfrostHubb
Was there a reason why the wolf was shot in MA? it was eating sheep close to MPMs house. Will, try to attend a Wolf Talk by the guy in Gardner someday. Eye opening
HoarfrostHubb
Somehow coyotes and wolves can breed, and the wolf DNA tends to be favored. Long term it might drive the coyotes out...
Logan11
It would be cool if we could get the wolf re-established. Too many deer around.... my car felt the impact of one a couple months ago. it was eating sheep close to MPMs house. Will, try to attend a Wolf Talk by the guy in Gardner someday. Logan11
DNA studies have found that our Northeast Coyotes have some wolf genes in them. Flying MXZ
Poor Pete. I wouldn't be suprised if he had frost again. Iced over windshield again today in the Catskills. 34.3° at 5:30 and the lows have been running roughly 1° lower than the 5:30 reading (when I head to work) recently. The last frost killed some of my tomato plants, but the rest of the garden did ok, with some minimal damage. The neighbors garden in the bottom of the valley was completely dead following the first frost.
moneypitmike
I do recall that pure gray wolf that was shot and killed in MA not too long ago. Maybe 3 years ago? Was there a reason why the wolf was shot in MA? Shot at one of the farms up the road from me. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-03-04-wolf-sighting_N.htm

Indeed, our eastern coyote is something like 15-30% wolf by DNA. We had quite a pack of them around the house last summer (2011), less so this summer but still present. Low of 52 here, nothing unusual given we're just about in late Sept. Normal lows across the state range from 46-57 with the median being 50 for this morning

Normal lows across the state range from 46-57 with the median being 50 for this morning Obv its nothing crazy......but how crazy above avg we have been, its a real snap back to normal.....bdr only 1.7 for the month and have not had more then 5 80 degree highs for the month, A few where saying alot more on the way in that area....7 out of the last 10 days have been below avg, the lows have really been helping......your lowest temps was 50 so far this month
Mr Torchey
PVD put up a big ole goose egg for departure yesterday, even with that ripping southerly llj. Place has been insane even earlier in the month when everyone people were registering monster positive departures they were not, but they are always tempered, heavily influenced by the marine air. Never too hot, never too cold.
