CoastalWx
Should be a decent cool shot this weekend and then maybe again next week, but otherwise...looks fairly seasonable to cool heading into October.
Professional Lurker
The ass of the swamp has returned, ac units cranking, feels awesome! If high temps and dews 'feels awesome,' what's the need to run AC?
snowman21
Joe is nuts. I'm still using mine as well, though I have central air so there's no annual chore of installing and uninstalling. My last date of using AC tends to be in mid-October. Waking up to temps in the 70s on Sept 18th is why AC is still necessary here.

S&P
i have central AC , with my proximity (newport RI area) to the water and a southerly wind if it gets juicy it's worth the $3-4 just to keep the moisture out of the house for 12-24 hours. snowman21
Isn't it 70 or 71 there? Yes, 71. You wouldn't use AC if all you had to do is flip a switch to dry the air out or make it a little more comfortable to sleep at night? It still gets to 70-75 here in the day, so it can still be stuffy, and living along the Sound means its always pretty humid. If it's say 55 or lower by bed time then I'll open the windows and shut off the AC, but that's happened maybe a couple times so far. I don't run the AC as much as I do in July and August, but it's still used, just like I won't hesitate to use it on those few hot days that pop up in April and May. snowman21
I have central A/C too. I was referring to your comment about waking up in the mid 70s. Oh I don't think I said mid-70s, but a morning in the 70s (whether that be 71 or 74) this time of year is annoying. In my mind it should be 51, though I guess looking at the normals that's an unrealistic expectation on my part.

Probably will tonight, but for now...it's been nice with a fan in the window.
dendrite
If I'm going to use the AC almost 24/7 in the summer I better at least have palms trees to view out my front window. I spend enough on oil in the winter...I don't need to spend more energy dollars in the summer.

HoarfrostHubb
ORH, which is all I really care about, should finish solidly above...by solidly I mean +1.0 to +2.0 And during the summer, when the AC is cranking full blast, and our pool is running 24/7, our electric bill is usually only $10 to $20 above our "norm" I still have the units in the window, but I have only had them in "fan" mode if at all for a while. I will probably remove them in a week or 2. So much fun Light rain here at work
Mr Torchey
Just had two impressive gusts that coincided with a brief shower, hopefully these winds will be mixing down as the convection moves in later.

Yeah, the # of moose N of the Pike and West of 495 is sick. I think Will mentioned that ORH county has the largest moose population by county (or maybe it is density?) in New England? I forget. Been over a year since I have seen one, though
Brian5671
have CAC but haven't used it since 9/8. Baroclinic Zone
Still managed to drop down to 50F this AM. Temp is up to 71F now and the DP is up to 61F after bottoming out at 49F. Rains still a ways off. Daughter has a riding lesson tonight in Dighton. May be able to get it in.

I could never live that way, I have 4 south facing windows open for the breeze and the ac on, even in the summer when I am driving I like the windows open with the ac on.......to each there own:)
