MaineJayhawk
Cold hike up MWN on Sunday. Probably 40ish a lot of the hike. Meanwhile 82/54 here in Plymouth. Awesome. The wind is what you need to be thinking about for Sunday.

powderfreak
Euro has like -4C 850s into N MN....we actually get a chunk of cool air at D7...then brief mild down and then get blasted again at the end of the run. This weekend's cool shot is getting a bit more impressive too. Probably sub-freezing on MWN again. Maybe getting near freezing on the top of Mt. Mansfield....should be down to 0F or so at Pete's place. Nice... at work our radios are patched into NOAA weather radio so I listen to it every once in a while for the observations. MWN definitely runs a solid 8-10F colder than Mansfield most of the time, but that makes sense seeing as its 2,000ft higher. Hopefully we can get some rime out of one of these... love that first white ridgeline.
powderfreak
Warm day in progress up here... lots of low 80s from 1,000ft and below. Currently up to 81F here at home. Even 80F up at 1,500ft in Rangley, ME.

tamarack
Walking on boulders with a full pack into hurricane-strength winds will be memorable! Possibly on rime-encrusted boulders, just to make things interesting. Noted on the map that PF posted that some of Maine's warmer temps were in the mts, Rangeley and Long Falls Dam. Aroostook is in the low 80s as well.

powderfreak
High of 79 +2 on the day, dead on average Pow Pow is en fuego! Yeah hot day across the north... I'm impressed at how high the Stowe base area got at 1,600ft... 82.8F Plus they don't radiate really up there as the wind funnels out of the terrain all night long, so the low was only 56F. Gotta be a bit above normal at 1,600ft in N.VT to do 83/56 daily spread in mid-September. http://www.wundergro...sp?ID=KVTSTOWE3

Even 80F up at 1,500ft in Rangley, ME. It wouldn't surprise me if this is the last 80F day for a lot of the NNE areas. We may have already had our last 80F day in a lot of the higher terrain down here. I don't think it will be long until we are monitoring our last 70F day...esp if this +PNA pattern sets up for a while.

FROPA doesn't look to happen till evening so we should get another warm day in. Surprisingly up here it doesn't really seem to matter about elevation, its warm in the low 80s up to like 1,700ft haha. No idea how you guys are in the 70s down there in SNE but probably one of those cases of heat working more across the north and overcutting SNE. Haha yeah the ground in the Berkshires is frozen 1 meter down. The color up here isn't really getting all that impressive yet though up above 2,000ft its going. I posted some photos from Monday in the foliage thread. Down here in town its still really scattered...at least any vivid color. Most of it is really dull so far.
