HoarfrostHubb
Is anyone else getting pummeled by the ragweed? I rarely have allergies but I've been getting killed this week and also a few weeks ago. Desperate for some rain to knock the irritants down Yup. The missus and I. dendrite
Nice euro run last night...3 decent cold shots. EC ens are chilly past d10 too. Maybe we can at least avg seasonable for a 2 week stretch for once.

Mr Torchey
Late high of 80 yesterday gave us dead on nuts average as expected. Departure of 0. Looks like a frigid October is on the way, as expected, Scott are you still thinking mild October? High was 79 at BDR. I don't think I ever expected a mild October. If anything....Nino Octobers can be cool. Maybe this October is closer to normal? It really depends if this El Nino can get its act together. If it remains looking like crap...then October may tip warm. I really don't have confidence.
powderfreak
46F last night...now we are getting more consistent chill at night. Yesterday's high of 80F felt hot after the morning low of 42F. Close to my beloved 40F temperature change, but couldn't quite get there. Nice early fall mountain valley diurnal spread. Forecast has some good ones coming up...like upper 30s to upper 70s. Love cold nights and warm days. The temperature is always moving.

Sorry about that I clicked on the wrong city, you are correct...............you had said a few weeks back there were signs of a mild October, after I had said well below. Allsnow
Joe must be busy. Nice to see someone filling in with the cumulative departures during these last few below normal days. The next couple of days should be nice with warm days and comfy nights. Yes just a impressive cool shot...and now great to just have the humidity gone...jersey broke a few record lows the last few days. Western jersey really radiates well...looks like the week will avg out below awt

I don't really expect a warm October as of now, but I would not rule it out. Early signs point to a more normal month..IE maybe within -0.5 to +0.5. If this current pattern shows signs of being stable like it is on the models...then maybe at least the beginning is cooler than normal. For now, our AK vortex moves more towards the Aleutians which is a good thing.

I think the first couple weeks will be solidly below normal, followed by a warmup as ridging builds into the east, November and at least the first half of December look extremely warm. Damage In Tolland
Last 10 days of month look very chilly. Many of us will have to turn on the heat in the house before Oct which is impressive
powderfreak
Isn't that 80 about 10 or so above ur normal high ? Yesterday was +2F total... Normal at MVL per BTV's climate report is 72/48. So we had -6F overnight and +8F during the day. Really not that uncommon to see below at night and above during the day as most clear sky days have a much larger diurnal spread than the 24 degrees between the "normals." The previous 3 days were -2, -7, -8.

Many of us will have to turn on the heat in the house before Oct which is impressive holy peppered with big acorns, front yard is covered. I refuse to turn on my heat until it gets unbearable, you need to get the thermal feety pajamas with the square Velcro dumper in the back instead of the cotton ones you now wear. Mr Torchey
Should be interesting to see how this winter plays out, lots of factors at play! Is strat warming going to be the hot buzz word again for this winter or is it played out? Nino looks to be weak and pathetic, sea ice at perhaps all time lows (really no effect here at all), one eyed pig south of Alaska. I see a lot of professionals pointing to a strong finish perhaps, time will tell.
