And im obsessed with all things outdoors. Idk why anyone would think id want to live in Boston lol.

I get a headache in those urban heat islands I'm about 10 minutes. Straight George of the jungle status.

Yeah I wouldn't mind living in a city. I love NY but Boston is cool too.

You gotta find jobs up there... That's the problem lol.

and close to skiing.

lol you don't think like a skier. I went to University of Vermont solely for proximity to skiing. I actually liked UNH a little more at first but UVM had much better skiing within 45 minutes. Eventually 45 minutes wasn't close enough. Now I can be on a chairlift in the same amount of time it takes to go to the bank or grocery store. That's "close to skiing" in a skier's mind.

I get ya ChrisM.

I'm a geoscience major.

You think there's more geoscience jobs in Boston or out west/north lol? Unless you just want to be cleaning up pollution all day.

Ooh, fun!

You're right Pf, they just don't get it.

Near a Mecca like BOS is regarding higher ed, plenty of jobs I bet. It depends what you want to do.

You think ME is better? I think the whites are good. Cannon and Wildcat FTW. VT with their fake snow does probably have better conditions as long as there isn't a SWFE.

Depends on the type of skiing you want to do...but the snowfall difference between northern VT resorts and the Whites can be startling at times. Years like last year really make it stand out. When New England is having a good year all around, it's not going to matter NH/VT/ME. Plus when it rains and then we get CAA on NW winds, we'll at least pick up some snow. To me that's the biggest difference up here...recovery time after a thaw. 6-8" after it rains can make a world of difference in surface conditions...while everyone else just goes dry and icy on NW flow.

I lived in BTV for 6 years and loved it...absolutely loved it. But I got sick of having little snow in my yard relative to other nearby areas. It's tough when you are partly cloudy while 10 miles away they are in the midst of a blizzard.

And I know folks poo poo on resort development but I probably have more bars and restaurants within walking distance than folks near cities. Heck I can see 5 quality restaurants from my driveway. It's in the middle of no where but it's at least some form of human interaction.

There you go. You wouldn't move to SD, would you? Not much beach there lol.

So why would I, someone who loves snow and everything outdoors move to a low lying coastal city where you have to drive hours to do anything exciting (outdoors related)? At least around here I can climb and kayak and ski kind of...keeps me somewhat sane i guess.

Thanks Joe

Chris could either analyze how cow sh!t leaches into ground water, or he could be part of building green buildings.

Or i could move out west and analyze underground geothermic hotspots and figure out how to use them for energy. Or I could use remote sensing and other tools to analyze earthquake threats along major faults. Or i could help install wells in growing communities. Or i could work at a beautiful national park.

But you're right, building rain water catchments on buildings and deciding what tint to use on glass sounds more rad. :axe::facepalm:

LOL I love these discussions.

More than likely he'd be clearing dishes off the table of someone from Boston up on vacation driving a Porsche Cayan...telling them how epic the snow was last week and how they should've been here then.

Some areas like Loon get shadowed a lot. Cannon, Wildcat, the balsams all do well

Usually. But I agree the upslope gives the best powder out your way.
