Heavy Rain/Flooding Obs

Recommended Posts

Just had a brief round of heavy rain work through Southern Westchester, first time we've seen any precipitation in a while. It's tapered off but the evening is very muggy and unpleasantly warm, especially considering the date on the calendar. I'm not seeing a sustained cooldown on the models for at least another week, perhaps starting next weekend as a front pushes through and the recurving hurricane enhances that trough.

I see widespread 1"+ on HPC guidance...but seems like potential for flooding would be pretty random/localized right now. I am working a gig in Newark Tuesday that has me keeping a close eye on things, wish we could nail down time frame of heaviest rain potential....OKX highlighted this element in their afd...

FROM MODEL CONSENSUS

NOW...HEAVY RAIN POTENTIAL MOSTLY ACROSS WESTERN AREAS TUESDAY

EVENING AND THEN MOVING ACROSS EASTERN SECTIONS LATE TUESDAY NIGHT

AND SOUTHEAST COASTAL SECTIONS WEDNESDAY MORNING. THIS SEQUENCE OF

HEAVY RAIN POTENTIAL COULD MODIFY WITH SUBSEQUENT MODEL RUNS WITH

PERHAPS 3-6 HR SHIFTS OF THIS TIME WINDOW FOR HEAVIEST RAIN.
