Reached 44 degrees this morning. Felt more like October than September when I could distinctly see my breath and had to wear a jacket in the morning.

I'm amazed at how cool it got in Jersey, although you guys always radiate better. My low in Westchester was 50.0F, and we made it up to 70.8F for the afternoon high. I'm now down to 63/54 and slowing dropping as the night falls.

It looks like the pattern turns rainy during the 6-10 day range as the front moving through the GL and MW

slows down near the East Coast. It will be tough for the front to clear the East as it should encounter

a strong block to our NE.

Have we been seeing fronts hang up more frequently in recent years, especially in the fall? I feel like this is becoming a regular occurence.

You bring up a good point. Blocking along with precipitation has really increased here over the last decade.

Just looking at the fall, you can see a strong blocking pattern developed especially to our north and northeast.

That's how we get the tendency for weather systems to slow down as they approach our area.

I think it's because of the UHI effect being stronger the closer to the city you go. I'm in a fairly rural area of New Jersey, so, with less asphault to retain the heat, we radiate heat better than places closer to the city. I reached a low of 46 last night. I am now down to 78/55. I just barely made the 80 degree mark today. Today felt beautiful outside.

My low was 53.0F in Westchester. I had the heating on in the car yesterday when I started driving in Westchester, but then shut it off when I got to Brooklyn where I work (special ed teacher in East New York/Cypress Hills).

Interior central and southern NJ does radiate pretty well, especially in the Pine Barrens, because it's flat, rural, and it's soil is primarily sandy, which retains heat more poorly than normal soil. Lakehurst NAS, on the northeastern edge of it in Ocean County, dropped to 45 yesterday morning.
