Just dipped to 59.9° GSP's forecast is for 45° overnight. Morning coat weather has returned to parts of the Southeast.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH MONDAY/...

AT 2130 EDT SUNDAY...AN UPPER TROUGH WAS LOCATED OVER THE EASTERN

SEABOARD THIS EVENING. ONE COLD FONT WAS LOCATED OFF THE CAROLINA

AND GA COAST...WHILE ANOTHER WEAKER ONE WAS LOCATED OVER THE OH AND

MIDDLE TN VALLEY. DRY AIR BEHIND THE FIRST FRONT WAS WORKING ITS WAY

SOUTHEAST ACROSS THE FOOTHILLS AND PIEDMONT...AND A SHORTWAVE MOVING

THROUGH THE UPPER TROUGH TONIGHT WILL HAVE LITTLE MOISTURE TO WORK

WITH. SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWED A NEARLY CLEAR SKY OVER OUR AREA.

WINDS WERE ALREADY DECOUPLING THIS EVENING...SETTING THE STAGE FOR

RADIATIONAL COOLING. MINIMUM TEMPERATURES TONIGHT WILL BE 10 TO 15

DEGREE BELOW NORMAL. MOST GUIDANCE SUPPORTS VALLEY FOG IN THE NC

MOUNTAINS TOWARD DAYBREAK...BUT CONFIDENCE IS TOO LOW TO ISSUE A

DENSE FOG ADVISORY AT THIS TIME.

First 50's last night. 55.9. Sure feels good, but I'm suspicious of all the rain Goofy is showing today, as opposed to endless no it was showing very recently. Some more tropical engines would be welcome, but we'll see if they are real. At least every day puts the misery of summer farther away, and the happiness of winter closer :) T

Well looking at the teleconnections towards the end of the month things look interesting. The NAO keeps cliff diving to nearly negative 2 sd. That would be major blocking in Greenland. Also the AO is supporting this with some members wanting to bring the negative AO all the way down to negative 3 sd. The PNA wants to rise as the same time the NAO and the AO tanks. Just a few things that are playing to our advantage to a significant cool down. Maybe our first frost for the mountains by the end of the month. Just maybe ,but the Euro and the GFS are hinting at this the last couple days.
