They are not relevant to the current discussion.

While I don't like getting involved... I will say, ETaunton, that this is the "banter thread for September" and this thread is not for this flash flood event.

He should be able to talk about whatever he wants in this thread. But I'm not defending any of his statements, just that this is the thread where his sort of comments should go. Unless you can think of a better thread than the banter one?

He doesn't have to be calling for someone "to pay" for busted forecasts...that is over the top. The 6/1/11 tornado fiasco is well documented in two separate threads in our subforum and it really doesn't need to be brought up yet again in the context of a flash flood advisory-should-have-been-warning.

That said, no forecaster or forecasting entity should be above criticism...but we are also not going to a promote a complete lack of tact either.

Until things are fixed at that office it sure as hell should be brought up. They are lucky more people didn't die in those 3 events. You can let one event slide..then things should be fixed, so that doesn't happen again..instead it happens 2 more times..Each case people could have died.

And you're telling me that is ok,, that it shouldn't be publicly discussed on a wx forum?

Can we start a discussion thread on it?

What if it was someone that you knew that was hurt or worse?

Scott, now up to 40% ...amazing

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS LOCATED OVER THE EXTREME NORTH-CENTRAL

GULF OF MEXICO...ABOUT 25 MILES SOUTHEAST OF PENSACOLA FLORIDA.

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE CONTINUED TO DEVELOP NEAR AND TO

THE SOUTH OF THE CENTER...AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED

TO BE AT LEAST MARGINALLY CONDUCIVE FOR SOME GRADUAL DEVELOPMENT

OF THIS DISTURBANCE OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. THIS SYSTEM HAS A

MEDIUM CHANCE...40 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING

THE NEXT 48 HOURS AS IT MOVES SOUTHWARD TO SOUTH-SOUTHWESTWARD AT

5 TO 10 MPH. AN AIR FORCE RESERVE RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT IS

SCHEDULED TO INVESTIGATE THE SYSTEM THURSDAY AFTERNOON...IF

NECESSARY

Oh I agree on the lack of tack. I'm done with it, just wanted to point out that it is the banter thread and if the reason stated for deleting posts was that they are not relevant to the current discussion and/or off-topic, well, that's what the banter thread is for.

Its good for the staff of the board to state what they will and won't put up with...aside from just saying, "its off topic or not relevant" cause that was more relevant than half the stuff said in this banter thread.

Lol. Lighten up.

Busts are part of forecasting. But have some tact at the very least.

These aren't busts..especially when all the mets on the board see things and point out dangerous situations.

All the mets at BOX secretly read the threads...they should post and take part in the discussions instead of hiding.

Anyway..great job today everyone
