Damage In Tolland

Recommended Posts

The color wave will move east after your foliage peaks next week.

BTW, where does the nickname wormtown come from?

LOL. My wife introduced me to the term "wormtown". If I were in my drinking days, I'd like to try some of the offerings of the "Wormtown Brewery". I just did a google and came up with this.

Wormtown has been co-opted by city "leaders" and other assorted no-nothings as a derogatory mark against Worcester, which is far from the truth.

Coined by WCUW dj L.B. Worm some twenty years ago, Wormtown was actually the flag the music underground rallied under. A lovely little kingdom where the kids were allright, it was ok to be different, and original thought was abundant. It was a group that, unlike the majority of the Worcester citizenship, were happy to do things for themselves.

The Wormtown movement eventually toppled the tired southern rock, cover-scene format that ruled the local roost. It was a very positive time, and both WCUW and WICN prospered as a result. WDOA is a direct result of Wormtown. The Worcester Phoenix, at least the arts folk, gladly call themselves Wormtowners,as does the T&G's Scott McClennen. Why be anything less then the best. Vincent's, arguably the cities hottest night spot is 100% Wormtown, having taken the title from Ralph's, the eighties most popular hang. Again, there success is directly tied to the Wormtown movement.

Wormtown was NEVER meant to be another name for the city. Frankly, a city this misguided (city hall) and complacent (the people) hasn't yet earned the right to wear this moniker.

Just an incredible weekend, family bbq was awesome! As has been discussed in full its been a summer to remember, who can forget Steves 18 days of perfection!!! I can never remember a summer where almost every single weekend was beach worthy. With less than 20 days of summer left officially eyes turn towards football and apple cider, leaves and pumpkins. Halloweenie is one of my favorite holidays, and I truly cant believe that I will be lighting the festivus lights in less than two months.

BSE2 certainly did not dissapoint, I hope for all my friends that this winter delivers as well. Give me snow or give me torch.

Just try one like that. It's so good. It's not as sweet as you think because it's just on the rim of the mug.

Another good one.......grab some vodka, tall glass of ice, pour a little cider into it with some cinnamon on the rim, takes just like an apple pie and is not sweet at all but oh so delicious.

Beautiful Labor Day here. Lows near 50 and highs in the 70s - doesn't get much better than that. It's nice to be in September and know that the clock is ticking toward possible frost later this month but at least in the next 4-5 weeks. Some of the early trees showing hints of color - after all peak is usually about 10/15 here so we are only 6 weeks from there. I've been keenly watching the trees to see how they would react since spring was so warm and early. I think August was a pretty good month for them so I'm hoping next spring will have some good sap runs - so long as we have good temps then!

From my bro in AK, he has been there 30 years

Steve: FYI -- Just had hardest rain I've ever seen in Alaska. Got a front coming where the millibars are going to be equal to that of the storm that just nailed New Orleans again. We're supposed to get winds of around 90 mph and lots of rain here in Anchorage.

THE ANCHORAGE HILLSIDE THIS MORNING AND ARE NOW BEGINNING TO

DIMINISH. THIS IMPROVING TREND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE REMAINDER

OF TODAY AND TONIGHT.

A MORE POWERFUL STORM CURRENTLY IN THE WESTERN BERING SEA WILL MOVE

TOWARD MAINLAND ALASKA BY TOMORROW EVENING. A STRONG WEATHER FRONT

TO DEVELOP ALONG TURNAGAIN ARM AND THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE

ANCHORAGE HILLSIDE AND EAGLE RIVER VALLEY...AND WILL BE STRONGER

THE FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STORM ON TUESDAY WILL ALSO BRING

HEAVY RAINS WILL CAUSE RISES IN RIVER LEVELS AND STREAMS ACROSS THE

REGION...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE NORTH GULF COAST AND THE SUSITNA

VALLEY. ALTHOUGH NO FLOODING IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME...PEOPLE

INVOLVED WITH OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES NEAR RIVERS AND STREAMS OVER THE

NEXT FEW DAYS SHOULD BE ALERT FOR RAPIDLY RISING WATER LEVELS AND BE

PREPARED TO MOVE QUICKLY TO HIGHER GROUND.

STAY TUNED TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FOR THE LATEST FORECASTS

AND WARNINGS FOR THIS MAJOR FALL STORM.

Was she a regular at Ralph's?

Not sure if "regular" is the the right word, but to be sure she'd spent time there.

Don't you play?

Guitar/piano. You do, too, right? I think we could put together a wholel weenie band from this board.
