Broken out into sunny skies here! Just beautiful...........this summer will not be denied.

Great to see Leslie staying weaker, means closer down the road, gotta love the westerlies and naked swirls. Hopefully it can strengthen and landfall around Sandy Hook as a Cat 3, that would give my area the optimal surge and destruction.

Meh, its coming, nothing I can do about it, thats why we have insurance, went thru Hugo, nothing will ever be as bad as that.

Bring it, I am with Kevin.

Tell us about your Hugo experience, never realized you went through it. And ya insurance, good luck with that. No thanks on all accounts, want a good Hurricane experience, chase one in the south.

Most insurance won't cover surge damage unless you pay a monster premium. Its generally only from wind damage that's covered in TCs...or in some cases, fresh water flooding if you have flood insurance...but I know surge is a whole different ballgame.

Exactly, I am not sure if he is trolling or what but last year he was humming a totally different tune when the crap hit the fan.

I was at coastal carolina university. mom lived in pawleys island in heritage. Even to this day you can see the damage in Francis Marion State park in between Pawleys and Charleston. All pines down there as you know, palmetto in the swamp and at the beach. Snap snap snap all snapped halfway up like match sticks. Pawleys got nailed, several small twisters including surge decimated that area and forged a new gut. Houses were pushed all the way back into the marsh almost back to hwy 17. Georgetown and especially Mcclellanville were just abused. The historic homes in Georgetown faired best, sturdy construction, the surge into Mccellanville was a complete disaster. Fishing boats across hwy 17 one stayed in the median for years and years . Coastal was fine as its ten miles inland in Conway, but I saw surge damage clear past Callabash into sunset beach areas. The concave shape of the coast in those areas really magnified the surge. I was in gusts exceeding 80, nice to be a teenager, with no cares or worries in the world.

The fact that you even ponder what I said truly dissapoints me.

Freshwater only? I read your posts from last year bro, you were very worried about losing everything you and your wife worked for, insurance does not pay for that. Why in gods name would anybody wish for their hardwork to be washed away. I totally understand the weather nerd stuff but c'mon man, ask any homeowner weenie who has had catastrophic damage how much they look forward to it happening again. I am not buying for a minute your wish for catastrophic surge.

People who live in a storm surge flood zone need flood insurance that covers storm surge or else they're not going to get a mortgage. Almost everyone in CT that lost their home or business (>100 structures) had flood insurance. Even with insurance it's not going to pay for a complete rebuild especially when you're mandated to build your house "up" (on stilts) or with other flood mitigation measures.
