PennyForYourThoughts
If I understand them correctly ( on WWL) they aren't going to wait for the dam to fail completely, they are going to purposefully breech it to release pressure. Had a reporter on recently that there is a town (or towns) along the river which is already fairly flooded already..sounds like a very serious situation. Ed Lizard
My company's field near the Mississippi in St. Charles Parish. The office seen was completely flooded in Katrina, they now have two "elder buildings" (like shipping containers, often used as temporary berthing facilities on offshore platforms when a drilling rig is aboard) stacked as an office, with all the stuff susceptible to water damage in the upper building. Doesn't look all that bad. Field is shut in for now.

Witness Protection Program
Why did KLIX reset their storm total rainfall? I've notice this has happened way too often at other sites, too, during basically continuous rain events. Quite annoying.

Cajun Thunder
Why did KLIX reset their storm total rainfall? We didn't reset the storm total rainfall. The radar went down. If it's out for too long...the storm total resets.

First, fantastic job under extreme stress! Next, best screen name on the board. Love your impact graphics, to bad some, including those in charge, did not take heed. Great job, hope all is well with you personally.

We've had quite a few of us put in 40 or more hours on duty since Tuesday am. I will be glad to get out of here and sleep in my own bed.

Love your impact graphics, to bad some, including those in charge, did not take heed. Great job, hope all is well with you personally. I second that. That broke down the impacts regionally, which to me...really broke it down nicely. NWS sites are widely viewed and something like that can be easily communicated by on air mets. Rick G
I have a question for the NWS team that worked during this event: did you actually get to go home after your shift or did you stay at the NWS office? I would be concerned with travel during the storm, or distractions due to families having to ride out the storm. Mods feel free to put this in the correct topic. Cajun Thunder
I have a question for the NWS team that worked during this event: did you actually get to go home after your shift or did you stay at the NWS office? I would be concerned with travel during the storm, or distractions due to families having to ride out the storm. Mods feel free to put this in the correct topic. Some went home, some stayed here at the office. Personal decisions made by each employee.

turtlehurricane
Here's a breakdown of tornadic activity from Isaac http://www.ustornado...september-2012/ Isaac was a prolific tornado maker, likely due to the strong and expansive outer circulation.
