mnweather
I think most people near the Lake in Cook County know the drill (they'll stay warmer versus places inland). But for real though, I wonder how many people actually pay attention to frost/freeze advisories? Probably just a few of us.
turtlehurricane
46 °F in Madison and 42 °F in Middleton, upper 30s in the Wisconsin River Valley to the west. DeForest is at 36 °F just to our north. Not that impressive but we do have about 8 hours of cooling left so widespread frost seems a lock at least, unsure about a freeze. Chicago Storm
You would think they would divide the county into zones if it is big and part of it is near water. Up here areas near Lake Superior are put in a separate zone than areas away from the lake and hence you have different headlines for different zones in the same county. That's a nice feature. They could split the lakeshore counties up around here too. Usually the effects from the lake only influence conditions within 10 miles - like LES, fog off the lake, and a frost headline like tonight. Cook County could be split up in a few different ways. The NW quarter, north of Du Page and west of the tollway could be one zone, the heart of the city another, and the southside another zone. Lake, Kenosha, Racine counties could be split down the middle. That would be way too many zones and would make things too complicated. They only county currently that really needs a split is Cook, and that would be the NW portions from ORD/PWK on west. Politically, there have been several secession attemps over the years. In the 70's and 2000's NW Cook Co towns (from ORD/PWK on west) started a movement, which obviously didn't work. Also in the 2000's S Cook Co towns (from MDW on south) started a movement too, which didn't work out either. There was also that time in 2011 when a few downstate reps wanted Cook Co to become it's own state.
wisconsinwx
Yeah, I know it's not a big deal anyway, but I still found it funny. Sure, Cook County extends slightly further inland, but I would venture to guess most of the north and west suburbs located in Cook County are no less influenced by the urban heat island than Milwaukee suburbs like Franklin, Wauwatosa, Greendale, etc.
BowMeHunter
42 (seems to run a degree or so cool) on the truck when i left the parents house in franklin almost an hr ago. 50 when i got home here. Parents are 30 blocks west and about 3 miles south.. plenty of 30's will be had in MKE CTY... But lke cook county most know the drill on these kind of early borderline nights. Geos
I think the clouds are finally gone - the temperature has finally moved from 46°. 44° now. - The most NW part of Cook County is pretty rural like this area. They should get frost no problem tonight. Edit: 1am - Making some headway in the cool down tonight. Now 41°, with upper 30s showing up in the area. turtlehurricane
Low of 34 °F in Madison so probably had a decent frost across the city. Looks like a fairly widespread freeze in rural areas outside of the immediate Madison suburbs, New Glarus bottomed out at 29 °F and DeForest hit 28 °F. The Wisconsin River valley also mostly hit freezing. Growing season coming to an end but not quite over.

daddylonglegs
The '"winner"" looks to be Black River Falls with a low of 24F... If you don't know, BRF is north of Sparta...which sat at 26F this morning...they've had many freezes/frosts already this year.

Jonger
Looks like the Cold pattern to return around Oct 1st after few slight days above normal. Looks to be right at normal, before dropping below..... Lansing is at +0.7. Its going to come right down to the last day of the month again to find out if the month will be +/-. Same as August... We had a way above average day on the last day of August to screw the negative departure and end +0.3.
