Hoosier
Down to 41. 30s here we come. We've had flakes in LAF in late September. If it happened here then it could happen up there.

turtlehurricane
Weird, bottomed out at 38. Clouds? Yup, once the clouds move in they act as a heater since they block longwave radiation escaping to space and at the same time re-emit some of it towards the ground, directly heating the ground. Made it down to 35 °F in Madison from 1-2 am, but now up to 46. Too cold for open windows. Looks like today is going to be the warmest day for the rest of the week, hard to believe right now. trapperman
Too many clouds last night, didn't realize our full potential up here. Friday/Saturday could be RAW. Interesting to see the Euro in the longer range wanting to start dropping cut-off lows into the southwest. Jives with what cfs2 says for temps and precip. Wonder what effect this has on us up here. Geos
Bottomed out well this morning, low 34°. Plenty of frost on the cars and rooftops, but did not see any on the grass.
michsnowfreak
Well, temps underperformed last night.....and ARGGH! DTW got down to 39F, which misses the record by ONE stinking degree! Wasnt expecting record lows, but with temps underperforming it sucks to be so close. Mainly because its ALWAYS the same thing....when it comes to record highs, this year we have had no problem sneaking a 2-3F intrahour bump to tie the record or whatnot, but when it comes to record cold, we miss the record by 1 degree. Nevertheless, intresting that we hit the 30s in a summer (its still astronomically summer) known for extreme heat. Saw a very light frost on rooftops (not grass though). This was the coldest temp at DTW since 30F on April 29th (another day that JUST missed the record low). Per wunderground, mby got down to 37.7F, ridiculously impressive for being on the water and on Sept 19th. Sept 19th rtp...brr.. BTW, the ever-cold ARB (which doesnt show on rtp) hit 30F lol RTPDTX MORNING TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION SUMMARY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DETROIT/PONTIAC MI 817 AM EDT WED SEP 19 2012 VALUES REPRESENT YESTERDAY`S HIGHS....LOW OVER THE LAST 12 HOURS AND PRECIPITATION OVER THE LAST 24 HOURS ENDING AT 8 AM EDT .BR DTX 0919 ES DH00/TAIRZX/DH07/TAIRZP/TA/PPDRZZ :SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN -- TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION STATIONS :....................................................... : STATION MAX / MIN / 8 AM / 24-HR : NAME TEMP/ TEMP / TEMP / PRECIP :....................................................... michsnowfreak
I don't think we had clouds... Just surprised to see nearly no drop since I went to bed. Had to be something. Maybe it was clouds? We were still like 46F-47F when you said you were 39.9F. It seems very strange that Wyandotte on the water gets to 37.7F and DTW with UHI gets to 39F while radiating magnet like Howell only gets to 38F. SpartyOn
Today should be an excellent fall day. Temps in the mid/upper 60s under abundant sun. Keep these coming.

BeastFromTheEast
With some showers moving through, temps may bust big time. Yeah I don't see us hitting 73. Only 56 now with the showers right on our doorstep.

Geos
Temps struggling here too. Only 56°, with a solid overcast. Would be really something to see snow reports this weekend!
wisconsinwx
Really strong low-level WAA going on, I think we'll make it to 70. MSN could well hit 70 given the showers and clouds moving away, but MKE is still at 58F and Waukesha is at 54, and the clouds here should linger until at least 1 or so. Chicago WX
37º at LAF. First sub 40º min temp since April 27. Apparently a daily record min temp at LAF, 42º in 1973 being the old record. But there's a lot of missing data, let alone records only go back to 1944.

trapperman
Absolutely perfect weather for duck opener Saturday. Look at those 850s. Seems like it's been a looong time since I've seen that cold on duck opener. Hope they'll be flying...
