Weird, bottomed out at 38. Clouds?

Yup, once the clouds move in they act as a heater since they block longwave radiation escaping to space and at the same time re-emit some of it towards the ground, directly heating the ground.

Made it down to 35 °F in Madison from 1-2 am, but now up to 46. Too cold for open windows.

Looks like today is going to be the warmest day for the rest of the week, hard to believe right now.

I don't think we had clouds... Just surprised to see nearly no drop since I went to bed.

Well, temps underperformed last night.....and ARGGH! DTW got down to 39F, which misses the record by ONE stinking degree! Wasnt expecting record lows, but with temps underperforming it sucks to be so close. Mainly because its ALWAYS the same thing....when it comes to record highs, this year we have had no problem sneaking a 2-3F intrahour bump to tie the record or whatnot, but when it comes to record cold, we miss the record by 1 degree. Nevertheless, intresting that we hit the 30s in a summer (its still astronomically summer) known for extreme heat. Saw a very light frost on rooftops (not grass though). This was the coldest temp at DTW since 30F on April 29th (another day that JUST missed the record low).

Per wunderground, mby got down to 37.7F, ridiculously impressive for being on the water and on Sept 19th.

Sept 19th rtp...brr.. BTW, the ever-cold ARB (which doesnt show on rtp) hit 30F lol

Oh, and a shower with ominous sky dropped 0.14" yesterday around 5pm (total two-day rain 0.40" imby) and my mom INSISTED it sleeted (realistically it had to be small hail). I missed it because I was at a movie at the time.

Had to be something. Maybe it was clouds? We were still like 46F-47F when you said you were 39.9F. It seems very strange that Wyandotte on the water gets to 37.7F and DTW with UHI gets to 39F while radiating magnet like Howell only gets to 38F.

Very odd that the east side kept pace with Livingston.
