Disc
Does anyone have a velocity scan of the West Liberty tornado? I don't seem to have one.
andyhb
It was more intense prior to this, actually...I almost think that the tornado weakened as it went through West Liberty, as it was more intense looking on reflectivity and velocity scans both before and after it struck the town. brettjrob
Yeah, like most sequels this one won't live up to the original.... Tarrant County, southwest of Arlington, TX: I should probably know this already, but was CASA deployed yet in the Metroplex for that event? radarman
I should probably know this already, but was CASA deployed yet in the Metroplex for that event? No and still not unfortunately. Installations *should* commence in September. Figures because they've had a heck of a summer WRT severe wx.
Buckeye05
One thing that strikes me about the Harrisburg tornado, is that it doesn't look like a violent tornado signature. Looks like one of those brief QLSC spinups.
radarman
One thing that strikes me about the Harrisburg tornado, is that it doesn't look like a violent tornado signature. Looks like one of those brief QLCS spinups. It bears some resemblance to the Ossipee, NH EF2 in 2008 which is the longest known track of any tornado in New England. (over 50 miles OTG) Although the Harrisburg path length was "only" 7 miles, that an embedded rotation in a linear storm could reach EF4 status is remarkable and scary. andyhb
From April 14th outbreak. Just north of Greensburg, KS. Greensburg has had several very intense tornadic signatures come perilously close since that night in early May, 2007.
Disc
Greensburg has had several very intense tornadic signatures come perilously close since that night in early May, 2007. Yeah, I remember watching that most recent one in April form just NW of Greensburg and thinking 'man, that was close.'
