toxictwister00
This was posted in the main boards, but I thought I would share it here too because it's a pretty cool still image of Isaac at the moment.
Local Yokel Wx
Vis sat showing sunrise over Gulf states and Isaac this morning. My family farm in Gulfport, MS will likely flood (land only) as creek always goes over banks when we get over 10" of rain in less than 36 hrs. toxictwister00
Am I the only one who thinks the rainfall amounts in LA are on the low side? (West/Central areas of the state specifically)
Local Yokel Wx
Another HPC QPF forecast graphic. Amounts are trending downward for mby. We'll get our rainfall from the lingering front, not so much Isaac. I would say an inch or two is possible before the weekend for your spot. Escarpment will help enhance upslope effects from moisture across the region.

griteater
As far as the models go, got to give credit to the GFS in the 1-3 day range with the more west track.....with the Euro doing better in the 3-7 day range.
Snowless in Carrollton
I love how that rainfall map shows the heavy rain skipping most of the southeast, moving from our south to our north. Going around us. LOL. What a tease. I suppose it's only fitting for summer to end that way, given how dry it's been here. Thank God summer will be over in 4 days. dsaur
I've gotten .4 in official hurricane rains from this band so far. Came down pretty good for a few minutes. A taste of what could have been...and might still, if we can get a "right turn Issac". And as I hit send, it is pouring again. T

jshetley
This sux! LOL I was hoping for some good rains to help with the drought, but looks like NADA. Yeah this is not good at all for the GA drought. Maybe at least 1 more band can move through the area though before it gets dry again. Sure hoping this ridge doesnt hang around too long but I'm not holding my breath on that.

We could end up with a couple inches by the time isaac and tje front are done. I'm very happy with the rains. It's not the 12 inch totals from a few days ago but it is a good soaking rain

Everytime I think the end is approaching, it picks up again. Not the direct hit, I wanted but I'll sure take it. The biggest one day total this month for me, and it took a hurricane to get it. Getting some wet on a drought ain't easy, lol. Tony
HWY316wx
Yep, good soaking rain for sure... like its coming out of a sprinkler. Its interesting to look at the radar loop out of the FFC. The rain that is over near Gadsten, AL is moving Westward. The rain that is over ATL is moving north and the rain over Athens is moving NE. Kinda makes we wonder if the trough "tail" is hanging right over the state. Would make sense why Isaac is not influenced and will move N - NW after making land fall and not "right turn Clyde". Snowless in Carrollton
2" of rain so far from Isaac. First time I've had more than 1" in a storm in over 2 months. I was thinking our heaviest rains from Isaac would come tomorrow and Thursday but I guess it came early.

Still under a quarter inch from Columbus over to Macon and on to the south. As far as where I live, heavy rain to the west is moving north and heavy rain to the east is moving northeast splitting our area. Am looking for sprinkles at best around here. MotoWeatherman
Still waiting here, so far only a mist. .31" IMBY so far just on the other side of the chain. Radar returns look light but tropical rains come down in buckets sometimes.

jburns
http://www.independentmail.com/news/2012/aug/28/heavy-rains-cause-widespread-charleston-flooding/ CHARLESTON — Torrential rains have caused widespread flooding in Charleston as up to 4 inches of rain flooded streets and stranded motorists. The National Weather Service said an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain are possible through Tuesday afternoon and a flash flood warning remained in effect. Police say numerous streets have been flooded, including those near the popular City Market and along U.S. 17 where it crosses the Charleston peninsula. Emergency officials reported at least 20 stranded vehicles in the downtown area where crews had to help motorists out of their cars. The Citadel canceled evening classes because of concern the flooding would be aggravated by the early evening high tide. The weather system is not related to Hurricane Isaac, which is moving toward landfall in Louisiana.
Brick Tamland
You'd think Isaac would have stronger winds with the pressure as low as it is. But I think the story is going to be the size of Isaac and just how long it sits offshore.

DopplerWx
Just got home, was stranded downtown for 5 hrs. Poured ran for 4-5 hrs straight, 8-10" of rain easily. Felt like I was in a movie, water started rising quickly and cars began to lift and I turned around quickly and found a high parking lot to wait it out. Water up to my waist.
