E PA/NJ/DE/NE MD: Banter/Non Storm OBS thread

Recommended Posts

yes, I've started saving model run images off for posterity. camera are cleaned off and ready to record/photograph the event as it unfolds.

I explained what a power outage was to my three year old daughter earlier. Her expression when I said that the TV wouldn't work was priceless...

lol....

yeah...planning on taking a few pics around town, especially around woodbury creek for "before" comparison pics tomorrow.

So glad I went all in and asked for sunday-tuesday off two days ago. Now watch it veer off to cape cod with no loop back :-P

Yeah, that was smart to get the days off. There's no way in hell I'm crossing a bridge (I work in CC) in what's progged for Mon/Tues, so it's either work from home, or burn a vacation day or two if necessary. Unfortunately, I have a scheduled day off on Wednesday for something totally unrelated...

Good idea on before pics, I hadn't considered that. I am going to make some early rounds tomorrow morning for a few things, and I think I will do the same...

Is Ryan here? Just wondering how you guys were prepping your fd for this?

I've been down here all night, getting the boat ready and all the saws and such. We lost our one lake after Irene, so all this rain coming is worrisome. What's the protocol for you guys? Once the wind gets over 40, you don't go out for calls?

Lol, we have no such protocols. You call, we go. I'm on 16hr night works mon-wed (3p-7a). I know they had a meeting tonight with EM. I'm sure we'll be at full staffing from 13 minimal to our 16maximum. Not sure what they are doing for supplies. Guess ill find out Monday !!! Stand by with the boat, I'm sure we'll call. We have notious flood prone spots.

We'll be there, I go on station standby Monday morning. Hopefully all the people in the shore towns heed the evac orders, or I know for sure where our boat will be going. I know the EM community is taking it deadly serious down here. What station you gonna be in, I'll listen for ya.

Either 26, 36,37" or 74. I'm the first one to get detailed out of my home station (highland park 26). I'll shoot you a text and let ya know!

Irish and Ryan, please stay safe as you are out in this storm protecting the lives and property of others. I have the utmost respect for what you do on a daily basis and even moreso when conditions are extra challenging like with what we are facing early next week.

Thanks bro. Should be interesting...

I was up in Lawrence Twp. today... lots of trees down up that way. Kinda crazy. Seemed a lot worse than down here.

Parents said there are still some mangled power poles down the street from them. They were incredibly lucky to have only lost power for about 6 hours on Monday night.
