Pellice
It will be ironic (or perhaps telling) that possibly the biggest storm yet for this BB will be rain rather than snow. Maybe explains why this sub-forum is so quiet so far. Because the Philly sub-forum looks to be absolutely front and center in taking the impact under virtually any scenario, and Mt. Holly will be point for the NWS (and someone there will get a publication out of this strange storm). We will all be impacted - but how many of us will have the power on to report it? Good reminder, to charge cameras and everything else now.
phlwx
I'm going to the tropics to escape a hurricane hybrid. I'm going to St. Lucia next week...two years, two missed storms (missed the Thundersnowstorm last January). I have "good" timing.

Boch23
On Preston and Steve on the way in they were saying its "only" a category 1 and whats the big deal......then they said Katrina was only a category 1 when it made landfall and I darn near drove off the rode. Boch23
Work might close monday and tuesday where I work. My office building is on 291 so alot of marsh land, ponds and such around here, floods eaisily. I guess this would be the only positive for me from a direct hit to the area. Chief83
Think of the circus that will breakout in areas that are without power still on election day. Unable to vote because no power to run the machines.
Pellice
Think of the poor Weather Channel! All set to go with their new Nor'easter naming set, but instead of being able to introduce Athena with a bang (or whatever ominous graphics music they are using for this storm), they have to stick with Sandy. Oh, the publicity chance lost ...

_AR_
Imagine this setup as snow. Wow. Crazy blocking making this think hook and plow into us. Lady Di
Lady Di sending out a huge thank you to all the mets and non-mets here for all your insights. I've been lurking here since the snow storms of 09-10 and all this storm tracking you guys do is really interesting to me. I hope I am learning something. The folks at work sort of rely on me now. We've been cancelling some service work for next week, and as you can imagine the delivery dept. drivers are busy with gas deliveries and other fuel deliveries to just about every single account we have that has a generator. They'll be working tomorrow too. Stay safe everyone, I wish all of you the best. Try and get some sleep before the real action starts here ok? Will post again, after the storm. Big Jims Videos
Would someone please goto Belmar beach and photograph the boardwalk today or tomorrow? I want memories of what used to be there. December 1992 is the worst of my life time living in Belmar. We lost all my childhood memories...18th ave boardwalk golf, the two snack shacks and the entire boardwalk was on the front lawns of ocean ave. goldstar
Or...it's a message from the weather gods that naming nor'easters and snowstorms is a ridiculous idea... Yes I agree, However... I really think the insurance lobby got to the weather channel as if a storm is a "Named Storm" then policy coverage and deductible change based on Named Storm Coverage. Recheck your policies in light of this if you live in Mid Atlantic and Northeast.

NJHurricane
The size of the precip field is already impressive...spiraling from the Outter Banks to just N of Miami....this thing is going to take up a half the NW Atlantic on IR before it hooks on in....I'm sure a lot of the images we see the next few days will be memorialized in future threads, sigs, and avatars for years to come. RedSky
I'm starting to think this is going to be something like floyds rains but with added blizzard of 78 type strong winds inland As Herb Clarke would have said, a real humdinger
